Accordingly, in October, Viettel network will launch a 5G package with a price of 135 thousand VND/month with 4GB of data/day.
This event marks a major step forward in Vietnam’s telecommunications sector. After many years of testing, domestic network operators have successfully completed the 5G network infrastructure, ready to provide high-quality services to consumers. With this commercial launch, Vietnam will join the group of pioneering countries in the world in widely deploying 5G networks.
Previously, on October 7, users' devices in many areas in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and some provinces suddenly caught 5G waves, even though this connection technology had not been officially deployed.
According to a survey of 5G rates in some areas: the lowest package price in Thailand is from 11 USD, the lowest package in the Philippines is from 44 USD; the lowest package in Indonesia is from 2 USD and 5.3 USD; the lowest package in Malaysia is from 2 USD and 5.4 USD; China has a package from 5.3 USD.
Since 2020, Vietnam has been one of the first countries to pilot and apply 5G and has now tested it widely in 55 provinces and cities across the country.
At the end of 2023, the Ministry of Information and Communications said 2025 would be the year of 5G commercialization. Several trials have been conducted since 2020, but after four years, no network operator has yet provided services based on the new technology.
According to the plan, Vietnam aims to have a 5G network with a minimum speed of 100 Mbps by 2025, and 5G waves will cover 99% of the population by 2030.
The 5G network not only brings fast Internet access speed, but also opens up many development opportunities for industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, education and smart transportation. In particular, the application of 5G in these fields will contribute to promoting the digital transformation process, enhancing Vietnam's competitiveness in the international arena.
