Vietjet opens Melbourne-Hanoi route

The opening ceremony of the new Hanoi-Melbourne flight route took place in Melbourne (Australia) on the morning of June 4, 2024.

The inaugural flight was warmly welcomed by Ms. Natalie Hutchins, Member of Parliament for Victoria, Minister for Jobs and Industry; Minister for Women, Minister for Treaty and First Nations of Victoria; Mr. Nghiem Xuan Hoa, Deputy Ambassador of Vietnam to Australia; Mr. Jim Parashos, Director of Aviation at Melbourne Airport; Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Vice Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company; Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh, Deputy General Director of Vietjet, along with many local people and tourists.

With two round trips every Tuesday and Saturday, operated by modern wide-body A330 aircraft, Vietjet continues to make it more convenient than ever for Australians to travel to the capital Hanoi and vice versa.

In particular, Vietjet offers a classy Business class ticket with a separate check-in area, a separate aisle, a business lounge, a green and nutritious culinary feast, hot and fresh dishes served throughout the flight, checked baggage up to 60kg plus a golf set, a private cabin, 180-degree flat seats...

From now until June 14, the airline will offer a promotion for business class tickets, with discounts of up to 50% when entering the code SBJUNE50. Meanwhile, passengers who choose to buy round-trip Eco tickets from 0 VND from now until June 10, 2024 on flights between Vietnam and Australia will receive an additional 20kg of checked baggage and a free hot meal.

All passengers flying with Vietjet are also given free SkyCare travel insurance, which covers benefits ranging from reimbursement of health and medical expenses arising from accidents and illnesses, to flight-related issues (such as flight delays, delayed baggage, lost baggage and identification documents), and 24/7 global medical and travel support services.

In addition, passengers flying with Vietjet this summer also have the opportunity to accumulate points, redeem gifts with the Vietjet SkyJoy loyalty program and participate in lucky draws.

Vietjet Deputy General Director Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh shared: “Since Vietjet's first flight to Australia in April 2023, we have continuously expanded our flight network connecting the five largest cities in Australia, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide with Ho Chi Minh City.

The Melbourne-Hanoi route launched today, along with the Sydney-Hanoi route launched on June 8, 2024, is a testament to the commitment to develop, continue to expand the flight network, and provide quality products and services between Australia and Vietnam, meeting all the needs of people and tourists.

Mr. Jim Parashos, Director of Aviation at Melbourne Airport, said that the growth in the number of visitors to Vietnam is one of the bright spots after the pandemic: “The strong development of flight routes between Vietnam and Australia in general, Victoria state and Melbourne airport in particular, has brought passengers more travel options at reasonable costs, helping exporters expand their markets.

Vietjet's Melbourne-Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City routes offer more convenient flight options to Vietnam and other countries on Vietjet's network... Vietnam is currently among the 10 largest export markets at Melbourne Airport and among the top 10 destinations for Australian tourists..."

The Melbourne-Hanoi route is believed to contribute to attracting investment, developing tourism, studying abroad, visiting relatives, and working in Victoria, helping Victoria achieve its tourism growth goals, restoring activities to pre-pandemic levels by 2025, as well as achieving an expected tourism spending of $53 billion and a total number of tourists of 111.8 million by 2028.

Vietjet currently has a total of 58 flights per week connecting Australia and Vietnam.
