Vietjet Air has just signed a strategic cooperation agreement with OpenAirlines, the world's leading technology company in fuel-saving solutions and artificial intelligence for the aviation industry.
Vietjet is the first airline in Vietnam to apply SkyBreathe®, an advanced platform that uses artificial intelligence (AI) and big data algorithms to analyze flight data, helping to optimize fuel usage.
Vietjet signs a cooperation agreement with OpenAirlines to deploy SkyBreathe® application, a platform to optimize fuel usage.
The system collects and aggregates information from multiple sources such as aircraft data and fuel reports into a single platform. With data from over 21 million flights, SkyBreathe® taps into the world's largest fuel efficiency database for airlines.
The SkyBreathe® 360° platform helps Vietjet identify fuel-saving opportunities, provide specific recommendations for each department, from pilots to flight operations managers, promote team coordination and improve performance and green operating culture.
According to OpenAirlines, SkyBreathe® with its user-friendly interface and detailed analysis can help Vietjet reduce fuel consumption by up to 2%, reducing emissions into the environment by more than 96 thousand tons of CO2 per year.
Vietjet will also roll out the SkyBreathe® MyFuelCoach app to all pilots, a personal tool that helps pilots make better decisions, fine-tune flight operations and develop a fuel-saving culture across the airline, thereby optimizing fuel efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
This partnership underscores Vietjet’s ongoing commitment to achieving more sustainable flight operations, said Alexandre Feray, CEO of OpenAirlines.
Mr. Alexandre Feray, CEO of OpenAirlines.
“By harnessing the power of innovation and digitalisation, they are turning their ambitious goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050 into concrete actions that benefit not only the airline but the entire aviation ecosystem, passengers and the planet. The deployment of SkyBreathe® is already underway, ensuring that Vietjet can quickly unlock its full potential and start seeing measurable results,” said Alexandre Feray.
Assessing the agreement signed with OpenAirlines as an important step in Vietjet's sustainable development journey, Mr. Nguyen Duc Thinh, Vietjet Deputy General Director affirmed: "Pioneering the application of modern technology helps us to constantly innovate, optimize operations, reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, and improve flight quality at reasonable costs for passengers. This cooperation also demonstrates the airline's strong commitment to a green and sustainable aviation industry globally."
Joining the SkyBreathe® Community with 73 members, Vietjet joins a network of dynamic international airlines committed to developing a sustainable aviation industry.
As a member of the SkyBreathe® Community, the airline will also receive ongoing support from OpenAirlines fuel experts, helping to optimize performance and maximize benefits throughout its SkyBreathe® journey.
Vietjet is among the fastest growing airlines in Asia-Pacific. The airline is developing a modern fleet with major aircraft manufacturers in the world, actively expanding its global flight network and implementing many strategic cooperations with leading international aviation and technology partners, aiming for sustainable development.
