Vietnam tourism welcomes nearly 8 million international visitors in the past 8 months
Asia’s tourism has recovered, with all three countries in the region in the top 10 source markets. South Korea, China and Japan are all seeing at least triple-digit growth compared to 2022. Although China’s outbound tourism market is among the slowest to recover, it still managed to rank 7th due to its sheer size.
Olivier Ponti, deputy director of ForwardKeys, commented: "Now, the world's major tourism powerhouse, China, is starting to recover. Looking ahead to Q4 and beyond to 2024, I am increasingly optimistic. Currently, global flight bookings in the last three months of the year are only 4% behind 2019 levels and 3% higher in the first three months of 2024. The most promising region in Q4 is the Middle East, where flight bookings are up 37% compared to 2019. This is followed by Central America, up 33%, and the Caribbean, up 24%."
