Vietnam is confidently entering a new era.

President Luong Cuong emphasized that Vietnam, rising from the ashes of war, is entering a new era with a new mindset, becoming a symbol of peace and a bright spot in the world economy.

On the morning of November 14 (early morning of November 15, Vietnam time), during the program to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2024 High-Level Week in Lima, Peru, the APEC 2024 Business Summit took place.

The conference is held annually and is the largest of its kind in the region. This is an opportunity for APEC leaders to meet and exchange with senior representatives of thousands of leading businesses in the Asia-Pacific region.

President Luong Cuong as the main guest delivered an important speech at the conference.

Speaking at the conference, President Luong Cuong stated that the world is undergoing enormous, epochal changes that have profound impacts on the international political and economic environment, on each country, and even on each business.

As a gathering of the world's leading economies, Asia-Pacific is at the center of a new technological revolution, where the old and the new intersect, and is affected by many factors.

The President stressed that the business community plays a key role in the remarkable successes of the Asia-Pacific region and APEC cooperation. He hoped that the business sector would join the government in turning challenges into opportunities and turning opportunities into reality.

The President said that after nearly four decades of innovation and deep international integration, from the ashes of war, Vietnam has risen to become a symbol of peace, a bright spot in the world economy and a country of opportunities.

"Vietnam is entering a new era, with a new mindset, with a strong desire to develop a prosperous and happy country, and with a firm belief in a bright future," the President affirmed.

Vietnam's assets include a fast-growing, dynamic economy ranked 35th in the world; a strong, stable, people-centered political system; a patriotic, confident, self-reliant nation with a population of over 100 million; and many international friends and partners across five continents.

The President affirmed that Vietnam's strong development will open up many new opportunities for both domestic and international enterprises in fields ranging from trade, industry, agriculture, tourism to infrastructure, logistics and high-tech industries.

The Vietnamese market has, is, and will bring many benefits and advantages that few other places have for international businesses and investors.

The President also highlighted the important advantages that the Vietnamese economy has. Vietnam has a favorable geographical location in the Southeast Asian region, with a dynamic, highly open economy and a network of 17 free trade agreements. Vietnam is a large, potential market; a favorable destination for the process of shifting supply chains in the region.

Vietnam is creating a new economy, transforming from brown to green, from traditional to digital, startup and innovation.

Vietnam's infrastructure investment is currently up to 5.7% of GDP, the highest in Southeast Asia and the second highest in Asia. A series of large infrastructure projects have been, are being and will be implemented such as Long Thanh International Airport, North-South Expressway, 500KV power transmission line, North-South high-speed railway. Capital poured into startups has increased rapidly in recent years, expected to reach 5 billion USD in the period of 2023-2025.

Vietnam is one of the leading economies in digital transformation in the region; the added value of the digital economy is forecast to reach 52 billion USD in 2024.

At the end of his speech, the President affirmed that, in the face of the world's great changes and the risks of protectionism, fragmentation and separation, APEC once again needs to shoulder the responsibility of bridging, connecting and promoting cooperation among members to jointly build a transparent and equitable international economic governance system, ensuring balanced benefits for all parties.
