VIB converts website to AWS cloud platform

Vietnam International Bank (VIB) completed the conversion of its website to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform.

This is not only a technological change, but also brings improvements in customer experience and optimizes operational performance, marking VIB's progress in implementing the Cloud-First and AI-First strategies.

Benefits of Migrating to AWS Cloud One of the key factors in this decision was AWS's ability to provide network bandwidth of up to 100 Gbps, allowing VIB to support millions of customers accessing at the same time without interruption, while maintaining fast response times even when traffic increases. VIB also benefits from AWS's server infrastructure system, a flexible cloud computing and storage platform, allowing for automatic resource allocation, thereby minimizing operating costs and optimizing overall performance. Users will experience faster page load speeds and reduced waiting times when accessing online banking services, which is especially important in improving customer experience. Security is an important factor in the transition to the cloud platform. AWS provides a highly secure infrastructure, protecting VIB's data from potential threats such as ransomware and ensuring data safety in all situations. In addition, the ability to recover quickly when an incident occurs helps VIB maintain service continuity and protect customer transaction information. In addition, with AWS, VIB can expand its services to the global market within 5 minutes, meeting the bank's Cloud-First and AI-First strategies. This allows VIB to quickly access new markets, promote innovation and support effective data-driven decision making. Cloud-First Strategy In February this year, the bank and its partner Temenos Group announced the implementation of the VIB Core Banking System Modernization Project on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud computing platform. This is the first time in Vietnam that a bank has deployed Temenos Core Banking on a cloud computing platform. Currently, VIB is deploying the latest version of Temenos Core Banking, R23, on the AWS cloud computing platform and the bank's private cloud (VIB Private cloud). Previously, since 2021, the bank has pioneered the deployment of a multi-cloud computing platform by using Microsoft Azure as the bank's main cloud through a 3-year strategic cooperation agreement with Microsoft, thereby promoting the innovation process, creating different values ​​to meet the increasingly diverse needs and digital experiences of customers.

The bank is implementing a long-term digital strategy with digital banking witnessing strong growth and high penetration and digital transformation rates. In the period 2017-2024, the growth rate of digital transactions reached an average of more than 90% per year with more than 510 million digital transactions estimated to be reached in 2024. Of which, more than 97% of personal transactions are conducted on digital channels and millions of customers use digital banking services regularly every month.
