ANTD.VN - Information that the e-commerce platform Temu has temporarily stopped providing services in Vietnam has attracted the attention of many people.
Temu temporarily suspends operations in Vietnam |
According to a representative of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy (Ministry of Industry and Trade), Temu stopped operating to comply with the deadline for completing registration with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, which is November 30.
Temu has changed the interface language from Vietnamese to English on both the application and the website. On the Temu App, the platform announced that it had temporarily stopped providing services in Vietnam after working with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and being requested by the Ministry. Currently, it is unclear when Temu will resume operations.
Users in Vietnam only have 3 language options: English, Chinese and French.
Speaking to the press, the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy said it will continue to coordinate with the National Competition Commission to request cross-border e-commerce platforms to review and fulfill their responsibilities to consumers in Vietnam.
For consumers, the representative of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy recommends not to panic if you have previously ordered from Temu, because if the deadline has passed and the goods have not been delivered, the Temu platform must be obliged to return the money to the buyer.
Temu (China) has been present in the Vietnamese e-commerce market since September 2024 and attracted many Vietnamese consumers. However, this platform was later discovered to not be registered to operate in Vietnam.
Currently, many users in Vietnam say that they have placed orders on Temu but have not been delivered. Some people have even paid for their orders in advance but have not received the goods, and have complained to Temu but have not received a response.
It is known that currently, orders purchased on the Temu platform are not legally cleared for customs clearance into Vietnam. Only when licensed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, will customs authorities carry out customs procedures for import and export goods traded through this platform.
