Germany According to President Herbert Hainer, in addition to the team's poor performance in the second stage, a major controversy led to Bayern's dismissal of Oliver Kahn -.

On May 28, Bayern held a press conference to introduce their new CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, who was chosen to replace Kahn. At the same ceremony, Hainer explained his decision to fire the club legend in response to the opinion that Bayern was "rude" in announcing this decision right after the coronation ceremony. In addition to Kahn, Bayern also dismissed sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic.

"Especially in the second half of the season, you could see that Bayern were not playing as expected. A dispute broke out and did not end well. On Friday, in an extraordinary meeting with the board, we decided to sack Kahn, and therefore he will not be able to attend the match against Cologne on Saturday and the celebrations on Sunday," said the Bayern president, while affirming that the club did not doubt the abilities of Kahn and Salihamidzic.

Kahn wrote on Twitter that he was banned by the club from attending the Cologne game and the subsequent trophy ceremony. Salihamidzic was still present. The 53-year-old goalkeeper also denied Hainer's claims, saying he remained calm throughout the conversation with the leaders.

A 2-1 win over Cologne in the final round helped Bayern retain the Bundesliga title in spectacular fashion. Before the final round, they were two points behind Dortmund. But thanks to Mainz's 2-2 draw with their rivals, Bayern finished the season with 71 points, equal with Dortmund but ahead on goal difference.

However, this is still considered a disappointing season for Bayern compared to the previous 10 consecutive convincing championships. Conflicts within the club were discussed, especially after the decision to fire coach Julian Nagelsmann, which Kahn and Salihamidzic were the ones who directly carried out.

The announcement of Kahn and Salihamidzic’s departure after the coronation was seen as ill-timed when the club was in a festive mood. It also took attention away from the title-deciding match between Bayern’s women’s team and Turbine Potsdam on 29 May.
