Since around 7am this morning (February 3), the traffic, mainly cars, has been stuck on the Vinh Hao – Phan Thiet highway, from South to North, at the Vinh Hao intersection, Tuy Phong district.
Many drivers said that due to the large number of vehicles returning home for Tet, while everyone chose the expressway to travel instead of National Highway 1 as before, it led to traffic jams.
A driver said that at the end of the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet highway at the intersection with Highway 1, there is only one lane, creating a bottleneck, causing traffic jams inside the highway, and drivers have to wait for hours to move.
According to the representative of the Traffic Police Team in charge of the expressway, the traffic jam on the expressway was due to the large number of people returning to their hometowns for Tet on the weekend. In addition, at the red light at the gateway to Highway 1 connecting to the expressway in Vinh Hao commune, there was a short stop time forcing the following vehicles to wait.
Faced with the prolonged traffic jam, since this morning, the traffic police have been regulating and guiding vehicles to limit entry to the highway, and vehicles on the highway have moved to intersections to reduce congestion.
At the end of the highway at the red light intersection in Vinh Hao commune, the time is also adjusted accordingly to allow vehicles to move faster.
Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet Expressway is more than 100km long, passing through 4 districts of Binh Thuan province including: Ham Thuan Nam, Ham Thuan Bac, Bac Binh and Tuy Phong, and will be open to traffic from May 2023. |
