The 66th Tien Phong Newspaper National Marathon and Long Distance Championship 2025 has just ended in Quang Tri province, co-organized by the Vietnam Sports Department, Tien Phong Newspaper, Vietnam Athletics Federation, and Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee.
Athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh finished first in the women's professional 5km event at the tournament.
The tournament gathered more than 7,500 athletes from all over the country, giving the audience exciting, attractive and dramatic races with high professional quality, leaving a deep impression in the hearts of the people and tourists. Athletes competed in individual events with distances of 21.1 km and 42.195 km for men and women, professional and amateur; 10 km for men and women, professional, young, men and women; 5 km for women, professional, young and men and women, amateur.
Athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh (Bac Giang, podium number 1) received gold medal at the tournament.
The Tien Phong Newspaper Marathon is an important tournament with high professional quality, within the high-performance sports competition system of the Vietnam Sports Department and the Vietnam Athletics Federation, gathering excellent athletes of Vietnam's athletics in medium and long distances. The tournament is an opportunity for amateur athletes to compete on the same track with professional athletes. This is the longest-standing sports tournament in all sports tournaments in Vietnam. Through the tournament, the training quality of localities is evaluated, and talented athletes are selected to be added to the national team to prepare for regional and international tournaments in the coming time.
Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Director of the Sports Training and Training Center of Bac Giang province gave a bonus to athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh.
The Bac Giang delegation had 13 athletes competing in many events. As a result, in the women's professional 5 km event, athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh continued to maintain her top performance, finishing first with a time of 16 minutes and 19 seconds, this is the 9th consecutive time Nguyen Thi Oanh has won a Gold Medal at this tournament; Oanh and teammates Le Thuy Linh and Nguyen Hai Yen won another Bronze Medal in the women's team event./.
