In the final round of Group D of the 2024 AFC U23 Championship, Vietnam lost 3-0 to Uzbekistan. This result helped the boys in red avoid defending champions Saudi Arabia in the quarterfinals.

Facing one of the strongest youth teams in Asia at the moment, coach Hoang Anh Tuan's students have made the necessary tactical calculations to ensure the best lineup for the next match.
Uzbekistan showed their superior strength when they led 3-0 right after the first half. In the second half, Uzbekistan continued to put pressure on Vietnam, leaving no significant opportunities. However, no more goals were scored in the remaining 45 minutes.
With this result, Hoang Anh Tuan and his team will meet Iraq in the quarter-finals, while Uzbekistan will face defending champion Saudi Arabia. U23 Indonesia is the remaining representative of Southeast Asia to qualify for the next round. U23 Thailand, U23 Malaysia and U23 Australia have all been eliminated.
