In 2024, my family received 80 million VND from the Provincial Fund for the Poor to build a new house. With the cooperation and help of relatives and friends, the solid house was completed and put into use. This is a priceless gift that has helped my family stabilize their housing. Not only that, every year on holidays and Tet, I receive the attention of authorities at all levels and benefactors with many meaningful gifts.
Promoting the tradition of solidarity "Mutual love and support", "The rich help the poor", in recent years, Van Lam district has mobilized the entire political system to carry out social security activities, care for and help the poor, people in difficult circumstances... From there, helping them gradually overcome difficulties and rise up in life.
In early September 2024, storm No. 3 had a great impact on people's lives and activities. The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district made a list and consulted with district leaders to visit, give gifts and encourage 20 poor households, near-poor households and households in difficult circumstances affected by storm No. 3. From the fund for the poor, each household received 3 million VND in cash and some necessary necessities. Receiving this affection, the families were very grateful and touched. In addition, to support people to overcome the consequences of rain and storms, the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels in the district organized a campaign to raise over 3.1 billion VND.
Due to difficult family circumstances, in 2024, Ms. Nguyen Thi Vui in Hanh Lac village (Nhu Quynh town) received support from the District Women's Union to build a livelihood garden. Ms. Vui was excited: I will diligently take care of the garden to have more income and develop the family economy. Comrade Le Thi Hong Nhung, Chairwoman of the District Women's Union, said: With the spirit of not leaving anyone behind, the District Women's Union at all levels has proactively coordinated with the District Social Policy Bank Transaction Office to promote preferential credit programs; support members to access loans from credit institutions and support livelihoods, create jobs for poor women and women in difficult circumstances. From 2020 to present, the Union at all levels has supported the establishment of 3 new cooperatives; supported 86 women in difficult circumstances and women with disabilities to raise more than 2,000 breeding chickens; supporting 12 women with 12 bicycles to implement the clean scrap model... Implementing the Godmother Program connecting love, the association at all levels and agencies, units, and individuals sponsored 74 orphaned children in difficult circumstances with a total amount of nearly 450 million VND.
By the end of 2024, the poverty rate of Van Lam district will be 0.4% (down 0.4% compared to 2023). The district will mobilize maximum resources to support poor households, creating opportunities for poor households to increase their income and access basic social services. The District Social Policy Bank Transaction Office will continue to coordinate and, through associations and organizations, implement preferential loan programs to develop production and study for poor households, near-poor households, and people who have just escaped poverty. The district will focus on supporting production and vocational training associated with job creation. In 2024, the district will provide vocational training for 1,575 workers, creating new jobs for nearly 2,300 people. Support policies on education and training, health care, housing support, etc. will be implemented promptly, contributing to ensuring social security.
Comrade Ton Ngoc Chuan, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Van Lam district, said: The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels in the district have effectively implemented the mobilization and construction of the Fund for the Poor and implemented the peak month for the Poor. In 2024, the Fund for the Poor at all levels in the district launched and received over 3.1 billion VND. From this fund, activities to visit and give gifts to poor households, people in difficult circumstances, poor students who overcome difficulties to excel in their studies, etc. were carried out with a total amount of over 2 billion VND.
In the coming time, to care for the poor and people in difficult circumstances, the district will continue to effectively implement poverty reduction policies; mobilize social resources to carry out poverty reduction work. The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels in the district will continue to mobilize contributions from businesses, organizations and individuals to participate in the movement "Join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses"...
