| Tran Van Tin - the person who "ignited" youth union movements in Phong Xuan. |
I've known Tin since his days working in the local judicial field about five years ago. At that time, Tin was praised by the local people for his dynamism, enthusiasm, and willingness to tackle difficult tasks. The event that I remember most vividly about Tin is the landslide on Hill 178 in Phong Xuan commune on the morning of October 13, 2020. It was Tin who stayed up all night that night, leading local leaders to the site to clear a path for the rescue of the 13 soldiers who died while participating in the rescue operation at the Rao Trang Hydropower Plant.
For over three years now, Tin has been serving as the Secretary of the Youth Union in Phong Xuan commune. According to Tin, the activities of the Youth Union, the Young Pioneers, and youth movements are useful environments for each Youth Union member to mature in their thoughts, awareness, and actions. When assigned to be the "leader" of the Youth Union, Tin always strives and makes efforts with the Commune Youth Union Executive Committee to devise many activities suitable to the local reality, improving the quality of Youth Union activities at the grassroots level.
Many activities of the Phong Xuan Commune Youth Union have spread widely throughout the community, earning the trust of the people and high praise from the commune leaders. Particularly noteworthy are community service programs, programs for the poor, blood donation drives, and the "Green Sunday" movement, all of which have benefited greatly from Mr. Tin's contributions. In recent years, Phong Xuan commune has faced many challenges in implementing the new rural development program. Tin has boldly advised and discussed solutions with the commune leaders, especially in the areas of environmental sanitation and expanding village roads.
Following the plan of the Commune Youth Union, Youth Union members in each village were assigned to visit each family to spread awareness and encourage participation in cleaning village roads, alleys, and gardens. Many inter-village concrete roads faced difficulties in land clearance, so Tín and other Youth Union members went to each house, using kind words and good intentions to persuade people to donate land and trees to open up the roads. For some routes, facing difficulties in purchasing cement, sand, and gravel, Tín developed a plan to call on organizations and philanthropists to provide support, along with the villagers contributing additional labor to complete the projects as soon as possible. Notably, with the responsibility of youth towards the community, Tín and the Youth Union members in the commune actively participated in labor, supervised management, and ensured clear and transparent financial accounting for each project, earning the trust of the villagers. Currently, nearly 100% of the inter-village roads in Phong Xuân commune have been upgraded and are clean and beautiful.
During the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake and the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Phong Dien town, Tin mobilized youth union members to launch an environmental sanitation campaign; offered incense and flowers at the memorial monument for martyrs and historical sites in the area; and visited families of wounded soldiers and martyrs. According to Tin, this is an annual activity of the commune's Youth Union aimed at educating the younger generation to be grateful to those who have contributed and sacrificed so that the homeland and country could be as it is today.
Currently, Mr. Tin is actively connecting with organizations that provide career counseling, guidance, and job placement services, encouraging young people to learn vocational skills and work abroad. To motivate young people in the area to boldly start their own businesses, Mr. Tin has set an example by participating in family-based economic activities . He borrowed money from relatives to plant over 2 hectares of economic forest and dig a fish pond. The revenue from his economic model is not large, but it demonstrates the dynamism of youth and pioneering spirit in various fields…
| According to Mr. Nguyen Ba Nam, Secretary of the Party Committee of Phong Xuan commune, Mr. Tin's dynamism and enthusiasm have left many positive impressions in youth union and association movements. Mr. Tin is a role model that the people trust, the commune admires, and the younger generation in the locality learn from and emulate. |
