On the morning of June 18, the Vietnam Blockchain Association (VBA), the Institute of Blockchain Technology and Artificial Intelligence ABAII in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City University of Law organized a seminar on "Application of AI & Blockchain in the legal industry".
The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on coordinating the organization of training programs, application of Blockchain and AI technology for students and lecturers of the school. Thereby, coordinating the organization of training programs for lecturers and students; scientific research, technology transfer and application and improving the quality of skills training activities related to Blockchain technology, AI, etc.
Dr. Le Truong Son, Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, said: “The combination of technology and law is a step forward that the school wishes to promote together with the Vietnam Blockchain Association to develop right now. To achieve that goal, in the coming time we will build a specific roadmap for subjects applying artificial intelligence (AI), Blockchain in particular and other technologies in general to teach students, creating quality output for young human resources in Vietnam."
At the ceremony, the Vietnam Blockchain Association and the ABAII Institute shared the “AI law lookup” application and awarded 30 Blockchain, AI and Fintech scholarships on the online platform to students and lecturers at Ho Chi Minh City University of Law.
According to Mr. Phan Duc Trung, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Blockchain Association, there are currently many legal lookup applications, but these platforms are charging users, and there are not many specialized AI support tools. The Association has called on many lawyers and legal researchers to build a completely free lookup toolkit for users.
The “AI Law Lookup” application is a completely free personal legal AI assistant, combining artificial intelligence with big data analysis to support users to search for legal information quickly and with high accuracy. This application can popularize legal knowledge for users, improve the quality of human resources, and increase work efficiency for units and businesses.
Leading legal experts and technology experts discussed the application of blockchain technology and AI in the legal industry as well as legal and ethical issues that are currently of great interest to the community. Many students also wondered about the career prospects of the legal industry and legal experts in the AI era.
Regarding this issue, lawyer Nguyen Tri Thang, Director of Nam Ha Law Firm, said that AI is greatly supporting legal personnel, helping to increase productivity, increase accuracy and speed of work processing. Stanford University (USA) conducted an experiment with the legal AI LawGeex by giving this tool a test with 20 experienced lawyers to evaluate legal contracts. The results showed that the lawyers achieved an accuracy rate of 85% and took an average of 92 minutes, while the AI reached 95% and completed the task in just 26 seconds.
However, lawyer Thang also expressed concern that although it cannot completely replace humans, the development of AI also brings certain difficulties such as increasing competition and increasing professional pressure on legal personnel.
Sharing the same view, Mr. Dao Trung Thanh, Deputy Director of ABII Institute, said that the use of AI will need to go hand in hand with data security plans as well as information authentication, especially in fields that require high accuracy such as the legal industry. The process of training AI and labeling knowledge so that AI can give accurate answers will also require developers to invest their heart and the participation of the large community. In addition, there are ethical issues in the use of AI because the line between using and abusing AI is very thin.
From March to May 2024, the Vietnam Blockchain Association and the Blockchain Technology and Artificial Intelligence Institute (ABAII) organized 6 Unitour programs at 6 universities across the country such as: Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Hutech), Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH), Danang University of Architecture (DAU), Banking Academy (BA), Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) and FPT University Can Tho (FPT).
Thereby, popularizing knowledge, exploring the application potential of AI and Blockchain in the digital economy and digital finance stage; sharing applications of Blockchain and AI in banking data analysis, opportunities and challenges surrounding the advances of AI and Blockchain... for students and lecturers at schools.
