U23 Vietnam considers penalty shootout with U23 Jordan

If the match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Jordan ends in a draw, the coaching staff of both teams will let the players take a penalty shootout to determine the winner. The purpose of this is to help the players train their mentality and courage on the penalty spot.

This morning, April 9, the U23 Vietnam coaching staff held a meeting with the entire team. Here, coach Hoang Anh Tuan spent a lot of time analyzing tactics for the friendly match. The strategist from Khanh Hoa encouraged the players to play confidently and comfortably to maximize their abilities.

This is the only friendly match of U23 Vietnam to prepare for the 2024 AFC U23 Championship finals. Coach Hoang Anh Tuan wants to take advantage of this match to observe and evaluate the players' performance before making adjustments in the next training sessions. After that, he will finalize the list of 23 players for the tournament.

For the convenience of tactical training, the match will not be open to spectators and the media. U23 Vietnam will try to give the opportunity to play to as many players as possible. However, to ensure the quality of the match is not affected, each team will only be allowed to use a maximum of 3 substitutions.

On the afternoon of April 9, U23 Vietnam will have a final training session to practice tactics before entering the friendly match taking place tomorrow. Because the match takes place during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, the ball will roll at 9:00 p.m. local time (1:00 a.m. April 11, Vietnam time).

In the 2024 AFC U23 Championship, U23 Vietnam is in Group D with Kuwait, Malaysia and Uzbekistan. The two matches against Malaysia and Kuwait will be decisive for coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team. U23 Vietnam will play the opening match against Kuwait, followed by two matches against Malaysia and Uzbekistan. U23 Vietnam's goal is to pass the group stage.

In addition to competing for rankings, the 2024 AFC U23 Championship is considered a qualifying round for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The three teams with the best positions (champion, runner-up and third place) will have a place at the Olympics.
