Bond Quartet sends greetings to Vietnamese audiences

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên27/09/2024

Ahead of ' Bond live in Vietnam', the four members of the group have just made a video and sent it to the organizers. In it, they said: 'Hello! We are Bond. Come see us perform at the National Convention Center in Hanoi on October 5. See you there. We love you. Goodbye!'.

Music heals

Bond's music is familiar to the Vietnamese public. However, Mr. Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, and head of the organizing committee, said that the organizing committee wanted to bring Bond's music to a wider audience, on a wider scale, with a nobler purpose. "It's not simply Bond performing at a music event, but also bringing benefits to disadvantaged communities. Specifically, all ticket sales of this program will be used to support our compatriots in many provinces and cities that have been and are being affected by storm No. 3," said Mr. Minh.

According to Mr. Minh: "Right when Bond came to perform, we were seriously affected by Typhoon Yagi. It affected the provinces not only during the time of the storm but also after that time, the flooding in the north caused extremely serious consequences. Therefore, we decided that all the ticket sales in this Bond program will be used to support the people in the north who were affected." Thus, both Kenny G. and Bond when performing in Vietnam in the Good Morning Vietnam project had community support activities. Mr. Nguyen Thuy Duong, Chairman of IB Group Vietnam and also the program's Production Director, shared that Good Morning Vietnam is an international music project for the community in Vietnam, so connecting with the bands must take from 1 to 1.5 years. With the invitation of Bond, Mr. Duong said the problem is just how Bond's performance schedule fits with the planned time of the event. "For artists like Bond, there are always their own musical standards. Bond is a quartet that plays classical instruments but performs on electronic music, so the musical requirements are different from Kenny G. With the accompanying musical equipment and technical systems of the band in Vietnam, we completely meet all the requirements for international standard music quality," said Mr. Duong.

Expected

Director Pham Hoang Nam recalls: "In my time, Bond was a very special phenomenon. When classical music went the old way, young people gradually listened to less classical music, but Bond appeared like a breath of fresh air. The band members came up with a very modern and vibrant way of playing music, and in addition, their image was very sexy. For young people, this was a very new way to attract classical music, so at that time we had a fever about Bond." Therefore, Mr. Pham Hoang Nam agreed to be the director for this Bond performance.

The people behind bringing Bond to Vietnam

Conductor Dong Quang Vinh felt it was unbelievable when he learned that Bond would come to Vietnam because their schedule was very tight. "When I was young, I saw famous bands coming to Vietnam to perform and I just thought it was simply a concert and that Vietnamese audiences liked their music so they invited them to perform. But as I got older, more experienced and exposed to more things, I realized that the story behind these invitations is really important," the conductor said.

The conductor added: "When famous artists, like Bond, come to a country, first of all, it requires a lot of effort and hard work from the organizers to be able to invite them. Second, they have to be convinced, and third, the artists must also love Vietnam very much. I feel more and more proud of my country and the Vietnamese people because we welcome all cultures and artists from all over the world."
