Criticize for progress

“Self-reflection and self-correction” is one of the important solutions to improve the sense of responsibility and effectiveness of public service performance of cadres, party members, civil servants and public employees.

In his Testament, President Ho Chi Minh advised: “Within the Party, practicing broad democracy, regularly and seriously practicing self-criticism and criticism is the best way to consolidate and develop the solidarity and unity of the Party. There must be comradely love for one another.”

He explained: “The purpose of criticism is to help each other improve and progress. The purpose is to unite and unify internally. Therefore, when criticizing yourself or others, you must clearly point out both advantages and disadvantages. Criticize actions, not people.”

Following Uncle Ho's teachings, each cadre, civil servant and public employee needs to regularly self-reflect and self-correct to discover and overcome their own limitations.

Self-reflect to recognize your shortcomings and defects in work, lifestyle and living. Self-correct to overcome those shortcomings and defects, constantly improve yourself.

Self-reflection and self-correction are not only requirements of the Party and the State but also the responsibility of every cadre, civil servant and public employee for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

In recent times, with the efforts and determination of the entire political system, Quang Nam province has achieved certain results in successfully implementing the proposed resolutions. Social security policies have been fully and promptly implemented; the lives of people and workers have been cared for.

Need to synchronize solutions

However, besides the achieved results, Quang Nam still faces many difficulties and challenges.

The economic growth rate (GRDP) has decreased sharply, not reaching the set target (negative growth in 2023). State management of land and mineral resources still has many limitations. The progress of disbursement of public investment capital has not met the plan.

Besides, a number of cadres, party members, civil servants, and public employees, especially leaders and managers, still work half-heartedly, push things around, avoid work, and are afraid of making mistakes.

Some party organizations and party members have been disciplined for violations. The problem of unpaid wages in some public service units has somewhat affected the psychology and lives of cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers.

The situation where officials still avoid, shirk responsibility, and are afraid of making mistakes, causes resentment in society, affects socio-economic development and the settlement of work for people and businesses. Therefore, self-reflection and self-correction are extremely necessary for every official, civil servant, and public employee.

To overcome the situation of fear of responsibility, avoiding responsibility for solving work, and pushing things away, in the coming time, the team of cadres, civil servants, public employees and leaders of agencies and units need to implement synchronous solutions.

Accordingly, each individual needs to clearly understand his or her role and responsibility for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland; and must seriously implement the working regulations and code of conduct of the agency or unit.

Cadres, civil servants and public employees must perform well their assigned tasks, not avoid or shirk responsibility; actively participate in learning activities, improve professional qualifications and skills; and care about the material and spiritual lives of the people.

For leaders of agencies and units, self-reflection and self-correction are not only the responsibility of each cadre, civil servant, and public employee, but also the responsibility of the entire political system.

Party committees, party organizations, and authorities at all levels need to pay attention to leading and directing the work of self-reflection and self-correction. Regularly inspect and urge the implementation of self-reflection and self-correction by cadres, civil servants, and public employees.

Timely commend and reward groups and individuals who perform well in self-reflection and self-correction. Strictly handle groups and individuals who violate the law.

Self-reflection and self-correction is a long-term, continuous and unceasing process. Each cadre, civil servant and public employee needs to persistently practice self-reflection and self-correction to increasingly improve themselves, contributing to building an increasingly strong cadre, civil servant and public employee team in Quang Nam province.
