Homemade firecracker, young man blinded, lost fingers

(NLDO) - While making homemade fireworks, the fireworks suddenly exploded, causing a 28-year-old man to go blind and lose a finger.

On January 27, Thai Nguyen Central Hospital announced that it had just received and saved a patient who was hospitalized with multiple injuries due to making homemade firecrackers.

Patient DVN (28 years old, residing in Phu Binh district, Thai Nguyen province) was hospitalized with a crushed right eyeball and many other serious injuries.

After receiving the patient, the Department of Trauma and Orthopedics consulted and coordinated to perform interdisciplinary surgery. With severe damage to the patient's eye area, surgeons had to remove the right eyeball, remove many foreign objects such as plastic pieces from the wounds and amputate the right index finger.

Previously, Mr. N. bought raw materials floating on the market to make firecrackers at home. While making them, the firecrackers suddenly exploded, leading to the above injuries.
