Candidates for high school graduation exam in 2023
Admission requirements to Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine
Accordingly, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine will consider admission based on the results of the 2024 high school graduation exam; direct admission; priority admission.
The school considers candidates who have been recognized as graduating from high school in Vietnam or have a foreign diploma recognized as equivalent. In addition, candidates must meet the general registration requirements for all admission majors: Conduct rating of grade 12 of high school from good or higher; Be healthy enough to study according to current regulations; Have complete and accurate personal information and application documents according to regulations. For the optometry major, candidates must achieve a high school graduation exam score of 7.0 or higher in English.
The total expected enrollment target for 2024 is 1,480. The enrollment target allocated for the admission method based on high school graduation exam results is 1,378; Priority admission: 70 (for Laotian - Cambodian students studying abroad under the Protocol); Direct admission: 32.
To ensure the school's enrollment quota, the quotas of the methods can be compensated for each other when considering by major. The enrollment quotas of the majors are allocated 50% for candidates in Ho Chi Minh City to meet the city's medical human resource needs, the remaining 50% is for all other provinces and cities.
The targets for each industry are as follows:
Special note on how to choose a registration code according to the place of high school
The admission plan also notes the necessary information that candidates need to know when applying to the school this year. Accordingly, the school code is TYS. However, the major code with the character "TP" applies to candidates studying at high schools in Ho Chi Minh City. The major code with the character "TQ" applies to candidates studying at high schools outside of Ho Chi Minh City.
Notably, the school has quite special instructions for candidates when determining the TP/TQ code applied according to the 3 years of study at the candidates' high schools (shown in the candidates' transcripts) as follows:
- Students studying at high schools in Ho Chi Minh City can choose 1 of 2 admission codes: TP/TQ;
- Students studying at high schools outside of Ho Chi Minh City choose the Chinese admission code.
In case the candidate changes high schools during the high school years, the TP or TQ will be determined in the following way: Determine according to the high school with the longest total study time; In case the study time at high schools is equal, determine according to the high school the candidate attended last.
Candidates who choose which major code to enroll in, if admitted and enrolled, will be subject to the regulations (if any) for subjects belonging to that major code for the entire course. Candidates need to note that they are responsible for choosing the correct major code TP/TQ according to the regulations.
Specific targets classified by method and admission objects for each major this year
Admission principles
Candidates can register for many majors, the majors are arranged in order of priority from high to low. In case many majors meet the admission requirements, candidates will only be recognized as successful and called for admission according to the highest wish. Candidates only choose the major code, the system will choose the subject combination to conduct the admission.
High school graduation exam subjects according to the admission subject combination include: combination B00 (math, chemistry, biology); combination B03 (math, biology, literature); combination A00 (math, physics, chemistry).
The threshold to ensure input quality is determined by the Admissions Council of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine.
The total admission score is the total score of the exams according to the admission subject group on a 30-point scale (without coefficient) and the total priority score (if any) according to regulations and is rounded to two decimal places. The admission score is the lowest admission score that the candidate is considered to be admitted but not lower than the threshold score to ensure the input quality of the corresponding major admission code (if any).
Principles of determining priority points
In case candidates have a foreign language certificate in accordance with regulations, they are exempted from the high school graduation exam in foreign languages and the certificate information is fully updated on the Ministry of Education and Training's Admissions Portal, it will be converted into 10 points when considering conditions related to the foreign language exam score. The school will not resolve cases where candidates do not update their foreign language certificate information in the Ministry's admissions system.
To determine priority subjects and priority areas is carried out according to the guidance document of the Ministry of Education and Training in 2024.
The total priority score includes the priority subject score and priority region score calculated on a 10-point scale (without multiplying the coefficient). The total priority score for candidates with a total score of the admission subject combination of 22.5 or higher (when converted to a score on a 10-point scale and the maximum total score of 3 subjects is 30) is determined according to the following formula: Priority score = [(30 - Total score of the admission subject combination achieved)/7.5] × The total score of the priority subject and priority region is specified according to the school's admission regulations.
Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine also stipulates additional criteria used for consideration in cases where candidates have the same total admission score, and are prioritized in the following order: High school graduation exam score in foreign language according to the 2024 high school graduation exam regulations; High school graduation exam score in literature in 2024.
