RIA news agency reported that on February 13, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said that Russia and the United States are "influential powers", and Beijing is pleased to see Moscow-Washington increasing dialogue on many international issues.
Speaking to reporters, the Chinese diplomat stressed that the country always believes that dialogue is the only way to resolve the crisis, noting that Beijing supports all efforts to promote a peaceful solution to the conflict.
Meanwhile, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro welcomed the resumption of direct dialogue between the Russian and US leaders "on peace and new relations".
At the opening ceremony of a youth leadership training school in Miranda state (Venezuela), Mr. Maduro said: "I hope the world will continue to move towards a polycentric, multipolar (structure), where the culture, identity and right to exist of all the peoples of the South, our people, are respected."
For President of the Republic of Serbia Milorad Dodik, the phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump is of primary importance for the peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.
"I am glad that two great leaders are ready to discuss ending the conflict... Peace is the most important value. From the very beginning of the conflict, I have stressed that dialogue is the only way to end it," he was quoted as saying by TASS news agency.
Welcoming efforts to resolve the conflict, on February 12, United Nations (UN) spokesman Farhan Haq said that the UN considered the phone call between the US and Russian leaders as a "positive step".
Besides, he made it clear: "The UN appreciates any effort to resolve the war in Ukraine that involves both Moscow and Kiev. Therefore, if both countries are ready to participate in a process, that would be a welcome development."
Mr. Haq affirmed that the UN is ready to play an effective role once requested by the parties.
As for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Secretary General Mark Rutte commented: "Clearly, the call gave the impression of a success. We all want peace in Ukraine."
Mr Rutte stressed the need to ensure Ukraine had the best possible negotiating position, noting that it was important that “peace be sustainable”.
Earlier, on February 12, US President Donald Trump announced his "productive" phone call with his Russian counterpart: "We discussed Ukraine, the Middle East, energy, artificial intelligence, the strength of the US dollar and many other topics. We also agreed to send teams to begin negotiations immediately" on ending the conflict in Ukraine.
The Russian side said that the 1.5-hour phone call covered a wide range of issues, including citizen exchanges, continuing personal contacts, and arranging a face-to-face meeting between the two leaders. President Putin also “agreed with Mr. Trump that a long-term agreement can be reached through peaceful negotiations.”
