Speaking at the ceremony, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that China is ready to strengthen cooperation with African countries in many fields, according to AFP. Mr. Xi pledged that over the next three years, the Chinese government is ready to provide 360 billion yuan (US$50.7 billion) in financial support to Africa. More than half of that will be in the form of credit, US$11 billion in aid and US$10 billion to encourage Chinese companies to invest. He promised to help create at least 1 million jobs in Africa.

Beijing also called for the establishment of a China-Africa network that includes land-sea links and coordinated development, and encouraged Chinese contractors to return to Africa. Several cooperation agreements were signed during bilateral meetings on the sidelines.
During a meeting with UN Secretary-General Guterres, Xi said China is willing to strengthen cooperation with the UN for peace, stability, development and revitalization of Africa.
