President Joe Biden closed his eyes for a moment, during an international railway conference on the final day of his trip to Africa, his first visit to the continent since taking office.

Biden arrived in Angola on December 2 and has been meeting with a number of regional leaders over the past few days to discuss development projects. The video of him dozing off was recorded on the final day, December 4, at a summit discussing the Lobito trans-African railway corridor.

In a clip posted by Fox, President Biden begins to close his eyes while Tanzanian Vice President Philip Mpango is speaking about his country’s contribution to the project. He then rests his head on his hands and closes his eyes for more than a minute. The drowsiness only ends when an aide whispers in the President’s ear.

President Biden and Angolan President João Lourenço co-chaired the summit, which was attended by representatives from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia and Tanzania.

In a press conference, the White House announced that Mr. Biden would commit an additional $560 million to the project, bringing the total US investment in the corridor to more than $4 billion.

Biden has previously admitted to struggling with international travel. In June, he blamed his fatigue during his debate with President-elect Donald Trump on recent trips to Europe.

On December 3, President Biden announced $1 billion in humanitarian aid to support Africans displaced by historic drought and food insecurity.

" The United States continues to be the world's largest provider of humanitarian aid and development assistance. We will increase that because it is the right thing for the richest country in the world to do ," Biden said in Angola.
