In a very short period of time, France and the EU have received consecutive bad news from Africa.
After the Chad government announced the end of military cooperation with France, Senegal in turn proposed to close the French military base in Senegal. Both Chad and Senegal asserted that they did not intend to break off relations with Paris, but only kept a distance far enough so that historical ties and ties with France would not haunt and dominate the relationship. This shows that the time of France's friendly relations with its former colonies in Africa is truly over.

Before Chad and Senegal, in the same region, Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso had truly broken away from France and the West, not just separated from France and the West like Chad and Senegal. The decline of French influence in Africa goes hand in hand with the decline of the influence of other European countries that colonized Africa in the past as well as of the EU and the West on the continent.
Both Chad and Senegal want to use their distance from France to create a new favorable political and foreign policy environment for establishing and promoting cooperative relations with other partners in the world, of which everyone implicitly understands that China and Russia are the first. France, the EU and the West are losing ground in Africa, while Russia and China are among the first external partners to "benefit" the most.
One of the most decisive reasons why France and the EU in general cannot prolong the period of friendship with the former colonial countries in Africa is the excessive delay and lack of sincerity, substance and consistency in correctly recognizing the historical past and accepting political, legal and moral responsibility for the crimes committed in the former colonial countries in the historical past.
