Palestinian Prisoners Club Chairman Abdullah al-Zaghari said that Israel on February 8 released 183 Palestinian prisoners in the fifth prisoner-for-hostage exchange under the first phase of the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel.
The released prisoners arrived in Ramallah on International Committee of the Red Cross buses, al-Zaghari said, and crowds greeted the freed Palestinians in a square in the city.
Previously, on February 7, the Hamas Islamic movement accused Israel of deliberately delaying the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza by disrupting the delivery of relief goods and humanitarian aid to this land.
“The amount of aid allowed into Gaza is still far below what is needed to meet the basic needs of the population,” said Salama Marouf, head of Hamas’s media office in Gaza, urging global pressure to force Israel to fully implement the agreement. Marouf also called for an urgent international conference to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and support the reconstruction of infrastructure in the enclave.
