Construction of My Thuy Port Area

This morning, March 25, My Thuy International Port Joint Stock Company (MTIP) held a ceremony to launch the construction of My Thuy Port Area in Hai An Commune, Hai Lang District. Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Khanh Toan, former Permanent Deputy Minister of Public Security; Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Dao Manh Hung; Chairman of the MTIP Board of Directors Tran Viet Anh; members of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee; Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council, and leaders of the Provincial People's Committee attended the ceremony.

The investment project to build My Thuy Port Area has been approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 16/QD-TTg dated January 4, 2019, with an area of ​​685 hectares. The project consists of 10 wharves, developed in 3 phases, with a total investment of over 14,000 billion VND, capable of receiving ships with a capacity of up to 100,000 tons, construction progress from 2019 - 2036.

My Thuy Port Project is considered an important transport project serving the socio-economic development of Quang Tri province and the region, the nearest gateway to the East Sea on the East-West Economic Corridor, with a strategic position in freight transport, an important driving force to accelerate investment attraction in the Southeast Economic Zone, industrial parks in the province and inter-regional provinces of Laos and Thailand.

On the other hand, this is an opportunity to create jobs and stable income for tens of thousands of direct and indirect workers in many diverse industries, contributing to promoting import and export, expanding international economic relations with countries around the world, creating a breakthrough to shift the province's economy towards industrialization and modernization.

During the implementation process, the project encountered many difficulties related to investment procedures, overlapping planning, site clearance, and restructuring of investor capacity, which took a long time.

However, with the attention of the Government, central ministries and branches and the close direction of provincial leaders, many bottlenecks, difficulties and problems have been promptly resolved. In particular, the investor's capacity has been restructured to ensure the prescribed conditions for officially organizing the implementation of the project.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung emphasized that the demand for transporting goods on the East-West Economic Corridor through Quang Tri seaport and seaports in the Central region is increasing day by day, so the construction and completion of a synchronous transport infrastructure system has become a very urgent issue. This is a great opportunity, a driving force to promote investment in construction to soon complete and put My Thuy Port into effective operation.

The implementation of this key project, together with other driving projects such as Quang Tri Industrial Park, Quang Tri Airport, Hai Lang Electricity Center, National Highway 15D project connecting La Lay International Border Gate to My Thuy deep-water port, Cam Lo - Lao Bao Expressway project under survey and investment research... are important technical infrastructures of the province, a premise for building the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone into a dynamic, modern, and prestigious economic zone in the Central region as well as the whole country and the ASEAN region.

In order for the project to be completed on schedule and meet its objectives, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung requested the investor to actively arrange sufficient human resources, mobilize materials and equipment, develop a specific construction plan, and ensure feasibility. The Provincial Economic Zone Management Board, provincial departments, branches, and sectors, leaders of Hai Lang district, and leaders of Hai An and Hai Khe communes must coordinate smoothly, synchronously, and effectively, and promptly handle any difficulties and problems that arise.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that, in addition to the goal of serving the transportation and circulation of goods for socio-economic development, the investment in the construction of My Thuy Port Area will create jobs for many local workers, contributing to ensuring social security and welfare, promoting the development of service industries, accelerating the urbanization process and building new rural areas for people in the area.

Therefore, we request the people of Hai An and Hai Khe communes and local government officials to promote the spirit of the development of their homeland to continue to accompany, support, help, and create the best and most favorable conditions for investors and partners to soon complete this important project.
