This is an annual activity demonstrating the tradition of “When drinking water, remember its source”, respectfully remembering and expressing gratitude for the great contributions and noble qualities of President Ton Duc Thang - who devoted his entire life to the revolutionary cause of national liberation and national construction.
Delegates observed a moment of silence for President Ton Duc Thang.
Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Minh Nhut said that the life of President Ton Duc Thang is an example of patriotism, loyalty to the Party, dedication to serving the people, indomitable before the enemy, modesty and simplicity in lifestyle, and wholehearted love for compatriots. Mr. Nguyen Minh Nhut hopes that the Ton Duc Thang Museum will continue to make efforts, unite, be creative, and promote its strength so that information and values about President Ton Duc Thang will be widely spread among all classes of people.
Delegates performed the ribbon cutting ceremony to open the thematic exhibition "Uncle Ton - The Day of Return".
Mr. Pham Thanh Nam, Director of Ton Duc Thang Museum, said that President Ton Duc Thang was a staunch communist, an exemplary leader, an excellent son of his hometown An Giang, and a loyal soldier of the international communist and workers' movement. For nearly 70 years, President Ton Duc Thang devoted himself to the cause of national liberation and class liberation. Beloved Uncle Ton has passed away, but his revolutionary ethics and shining qualities are always a solid foundation for the next generations to inherit and learn from.
Mr. Pham Thanh Nam hopes that in the coming time, the Museum will continue to receive support and donations of documents and artifacts from organizations and individuals to supplement and complete the collections, enrich and diversify the content of the exhibition and propaganda about the life and revolutionary career of Uncle Ton. Mr. Pham Thanh Nam hopes to continue receiving comments and suggestions to meet the requirements of improving the quality of the Museum's activities, serving the public better and better.

On this occasion, Ton Duc Thang Museum received the 90-episode documentary “Vietnam in the Ho Chi Minh Era - Television Chronicle”; photo materials about Uncle Ton from the Documentary Film Studio and People's Cinema and Ms. Ton Thi Bach Tuyet - Uncle Ton's niece. The museum organized an award ceremony for 5 individuals who won the photo contest “Uncle Ton in Me”. Tran Thi Tu Quyen (student of Ton Duc Thang University) won the first prize of the contest.
On this occasion, towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), Ton Duc Thang Museum opened the thematic exhibition "Uncle Ton - The Day of Return" to introduce the revolutionary activities of President Ton Duc Thang from when he left Con Dao prison to return to the mainland after the August Revolution in 1945 until 1975.
President Ton Duc Thang was born and raised in Ong Ho Islet (My Hoa Hung Commune, Long Xuyen City, An Giang Province). Although he left his hometown at a young age, the life and consciousness of the working class continued to train this young man to become a steadfast revolutionary soldier and beloved leader of the Vietnamese people. In his role as a member of the Southern Regional Party Committee, Uncle Ton was elected by the people of Saigon - Cho Lon as a National Assembly delegate - representing the people of the South. In March 1946, Uncle Ton was summoned to Hanoi. After that, with many important responsibilities, Uncle Ton, together with the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the Government and the Front, led the entire Party, the entire army and the entire people to build a people's government and conduct two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism, liberating the South, completing the cause of national reunification.
