The premiere of the film Dat rung phuong Nam took place on the afternoon of October 11 in Ho Chi Minh City, attracting the attention of a large audience. The event caused a surprise when it had the participation of the cast of the film version and the cast of the TV version Dat phuong Nam (directed by Nguyen Vinh Son) in 1997.
Among them, the interaction between Tran Thanh and Mac Can - two generations playing the role of Uncle Ba Phi - attracted attention. Due to old age and difficulty in moving, artist Mac Can had to use a wheelchair to attend the premiere.

Sharing after the premiere of Dat rung phuong nam , Tran Thanh said that the main reason he accepted to play Bac Ba Phi was because he admired and loved the character played by Mac Can and the cast of the 1997 TV version.
In response to the comparisons and controversies from the audience about his transformation into Uncle Ba Phi, the male artist said: "Of course, when the film is released, some people will like it and some will not. But since you have discussed it, it means the film is successful. Many people say that my image is not like Uncle Ba Phi. That is my personal opinion and I respect it and am willing to accept it."

In Southern Forest Land , Tran Thanh holds the position of co-producer. He shares about the pressure of revenue: "Making a film with such a large cost, we worry because we don't know if we can break even or if the audience will go see it or not.
This film must cost at least 100 billion VND to break even. The film market after Covid-19 is difficult because audiences have the habit of staying at home to watch movies on many online platforms. I am worried, but I still do it, because the profession has given me a lot, the audience has given me a lot, I have to do it so that good, meaningful projects can be realized."
Revealing to the media, Tran Thanh also said that most of the film's cost was spent on special effects: "The special effects crew are all the best. No matter how beautiful and polished the film's setting is, some flaws will still be revealed, so post-production must use special effects to erase the modern features. It costs a lot of money, that part is the most expensive. Editing a film is very hard, everyone."

Following An's footsteps, the audience experiences the richness of nature, the unique cultural beauty of the Southern region, the generosity of farmers who cling to the land and forests, and the patriotism of the early 20th century.
The three characters An, Co, and Xinh are played by child actors Huynh Hao Khang, Ky Phong, and Bui Ly Bao Ngoc, respectively. Tran Thanh plays Uncle Ba Phi, and Mai Tai Phen plays Vo Tong.
