The Vietnamese player is only behind Dick Jaspers (Netherlands), who currently has 392 points. Similarly, on the UMB World Players Ranking (counting points from the World Cup, World Championship stages, national and continental championships), Tran Quyet Chien has 363 points and is only behind Dick Jaspers (385 points).
Previously, Tran Quyet Chien had risen to the No. 1 position in the world on both rankings (after the 2024 Ankara 3-cushion Billiards World Cup took place in June). However, he only kept the leading position for exactly 1 month. After the 2024 Porto 3-cushion Billiards World Cup took place in July (Tran Quyet Chien stopped in the round of 16), Dick Jaspers won the championship and regained the No. 1 position in the world on both UMB rankings.

Currently, the world top 20 on the UMB Events Ranking includes Tran Quyet Chien (ranked 2nd), Bao Phuong Vinh (ranked 8th), Chiem Hong Thai (ranked 18th) and Tran Thanh Luc (ranked 20th). Like their seniors, Bao Phuong Vinh and Chiem Hong Thai, although they stopped in the first round of the World 3 Cushion Survival 2024 billiards tournament, did not lose points on the rankings.
The big challenge for Tran Quyet Chien and Bao Phuong Vinh lies in the 2024 Carom 3-Cushion World Championship taking place at the end of September in Phan Thiet City, Binh Thuan Province. At this tournament, the two leading players of Vietnam's 3-Cushion Billiards will have to defend very high scores. Because at the 2023 World Championship, Bao Phuong Vinh won the championship (had to defend 80 points), while Tran Quyet Chien won the runner-up position (had to defend 54 points).

The 2024 World Championship brings together 48 players to compete, including 1 spot for the defending champion, 16 spots in order of the world rankings, 13 spots from Europe, 8 spots from the Americas, 5 spots from Asia, 3 spots from Africa and the remaining 2 spots chosen by the host. The players are divided into 16 groups (3 people each), playing a round robin to select the top 2 players from each group to advance to the round of 32.
At this world championship 3-cushion billiards tournament, Vietnam has the most representatives, with 6 players competing, including: Bao Phuong Vinh (2023 champion), Tran Quyet Chien (in the world top 16), Nguyen Van Tai and Tran Thanh Luc (Asian quota), Le Thanh Tien and Tran Duc Minh (special quota from the host country).
