Ansu Fati has not lost hope at Barcelona.

“For Ansu, it was important to get minutes,” Flick said after the win. “Lamine Yamal played a lot of minutes and asked to be substituted. We complied with that request. But I had planned to bring Ansu Fati on before; he deserved to play.”

Fati has struggled to find playing time this season. However, he is determined to stay at Barcelona. Fati refused to leave in the January transfer window in the hope of securing his future at Barcelona. With the summer transfer window about to open, the final two months of the season are an opportunity for Fati to convince coach Flick.

"I don't give minutes to players arbitrarily. Ansu gets to play because of the way he trains," the German strategist emphasized. In the match against Dortmund, Fati entered the field in the last five minutes to replace Lamine Yamal.

With just 191 minutes of football this season, Fati has a long way to go to convince the Barcelona board to keep him. The club are willing to sell Fati to ease the financial burden. The player is currently earning around £200,000 a week at Barcelona.

Leaving Barcelona in the summer is still a possible scenario for Fati, but if he finishes the season in good form, coach Flick could change his mind.
