Tran Phuong Linh (born in 2005, Hanoi) is a Vietnamese student who received a full scholarship to the University of Alberta (Canada) - the top university in Canada and ranked 110th in the world. It is known that the 100% scholarship program of the top university in the land of maple leaves has only 4 places for students worldwide.
Not only that, Linh also received a full scholarship from Canada's leading research institute - the University of Calgary, and was supported with 90% of tuition fees from SP Jain School of Global Management (a high-quality business administration university in Australia).
Phuong Linh owns more than 30 scholarships from famous schools around the world with a total value of more than 60 billion VND.

Successful female students received admission letters from universities in the US such as: Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Beloit College, University of Cincinnati, DePaul University, DePauw University, Augustana University, Lycoming University, Hollins University, Illinois Wesleyan University, Chatham University, Le Moyne University, Drake University.
In addition, Linh also received scholarships from Australia such as: Western Sydney University, Deakin University, La Trobe University, Griffith University, University of Queensland.
Phuong Linh's scholarship offers not only come from the US, Australia or Canada but also spread to many countries around the world such as: Scotland (Dundee University), New Zealand (Otago University), UK (Anglia Ruskin University).
To be able to own many prestigious scholarships, Phuong Linh has gone through a difficult and tiring journey.
Linh shared: "I intend to study abroad at the end of grade 10. Therefore, the process of preparing my scholarship application was a bit rushed. I consulted study abroad consulting centers, but the cost was too expensive, so I prepared my own application. I was worried and pressured with myself when I had to try to study hard in class, review for the literature exam, and prepare my study abroad application.

Although she had difficulty preparing her documents, Linh felt happy and lucky to receive support from her seniors. The motivation that helped her achieve her current achievements was the support and encouragement from her family and friends.
"The University of Alberta is the school I have always dreamed of. I have a close friend who has studied in Canada since high school. He is the one who gives me more motivation to try harder every day on my journey to conquer the world's top universities. Toronto through the pictures my friend sent me is really beautiful.
Therefore, I always longed to see that beauty with my own eyes one day. However, schools in Canada offer very few scholarships, so I was really surprised and touched when I received a 100% tuition scholarship from the two best universities in Canada," Phuong Linh confided.
In mid-August 2023, after 6 months of receiving a scholarship at her dream school, Phuong Linh left Vietnam and set foot in Edmonton, Alberta.
Despite receiving many large scholarships, Phuong Linh does not have an SAT certificate (a test of academic ability for all American students applying to universities). According to Linh, this is a big obstacle when she cannot try her hand at top American schools.
However, for Linh, SAT is not a big difficulty in her study abroad journey. Because the female student believes that the admissions committee will find a candidate who fits the school's criteria, has his or her own uniqueness and always tries to improve himself or herself.
Sharing the reason for not taking the SAT, Linh said: "I am a student in the national excellent student team and the Literature Olympiad, and because I started preparing my study abroad application 1 year later than other students, I did not have much time to seriously study for the SAT and try to achieve the desired score."
It is known that Phuong Linh's academic achievements in 3 years of high school are extremely impressive. Linh's GPA has never been below 9 points each year.
Linh was the valedictorian of the High School for the Gifted in Social Sciences and Humanities. She made many positive contributions to the Youth Union and the Executive Committee of the Youth Union during her high school years.
In addition, Linh also owns international awards, becoming a representative while still in high school.
The female student won first prize in the Literature Olympiad of Hanoi National University, bronze medal in the HIPPO International English Olympiad at the national level, bronze medal in the FISO IQ Olympiad at the national level, and gold medal in the ESB English spelling contest at the national level.
Phuong Linh was a student representative who met and talked with former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak about the issue: "Vietnam's vision and opportunities in the era of global enlightenment" in 2022.
Not only does Linh achieve excellent academic results, she is also good at gifted subjects.
Phuong Linh achieved a Piano Grade 6 certificate from Trinity College London (a world-leading program, pioneering in applying music reform to develop international music certificate exams for the Rock & Pop genre) while still a high school student.
Linh is also the author of an essay on the topic of Business Management that ranked in the top 7% worldwide, recognized as one of the highest quality entries in 2021.
Sharing about her future plans, Phuong Linh said: "I will try to complete the 4-year university program at the University of Alberta, participate in scientific research, economic competitions..., with the hope that I will have the opportunity to intern and work at large companies in the near future."
Through that, Linh hopes that young people who intend to study abroad will always be steadfast in their dreams and prepare their application early because winning a scholarship is a long and difficult journey./.
