A rare python suddenly crawled into a resident's garden in Vinh Phu village (Ho Do commune, Loc Ha district, Ha Tinh province). Afterwards, the residents and authorities captured and handed it over to release it back into the wild.

On the morning of June 20, the Forest Protection Department of Loc Ha district (Ha Tinh province) coordinated with local authorities and functional agencies to complete procedures to hand over a rare python to Vu Quang National Park for further monitoring and care before releasing it back into the natural forest environment.

This python weighs about 32kg, is about 4m long (scientific name is Python molurus), is on the list of endangered and rare forest animals, belongs to group IIB and is in the Red Book of Vietnam animals, needs to be protected and preserved; illegal hunting, exploitation and trading are strictly prohibited.

Rare python weighing 32kg

Previously, at around 8:30 p.m. on June 19, this python suddenly crawled into a resident's garden in Vinh Phu village (Ho Do commune, Loc Ha district). Immediately after discovering the incident, the residents reported the incident to the local authorities and the authorities arrived at the scene, coordinated to protect, capture and lock the python in an iron cage.

After that, this python was brought to the headquarters of the People's Committee of Ho Do commune to complete the handover procedures to the authorities for re-release into the natural environment.

Handing over rare python to authorities

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Man, Head of Loc Ha District Forest Protection Department, said that this is the heaviest and longest python ever discovered in Loc Ha district.

According to local information, for many years now, many households in Ho Do commune have lost many chickens and ducks, but the cause is unknown. It is possible that this python is the culprit.
