Video: Motorbike driver hits woman lying motionless in the middle of the road and flees

On December 17, social networks spread a clip recording a traffic accident that occurred on To Ky Street, District 12, Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the clip, two women were walking hand in hand across the street at a crosswalk. While crossing the street, one woman was hit by a man driving a motorbike carrying pork.

The strong impact caused the victim to be thrown more than 2 meters away and lie motionless on the road. Meanwhile, the man carrying the pork calmly drove away, ignoring the victim.

The injured woman, L. (50 years old, working as a bus attendant on route 55 of Quang Trung Software Park - New Eastern Bus Station) operated by Saigon Bus Joint Stock Company (SaigonBus).

Regarding the above incident, a representative of SaigonBus said that the incident happened at noon on December 16. While Ms. L. and a female intern were buying lunch, the accident happened.

“After Ms. L. was hit, local people quickly took the victim to the hospital. Currently, Ms. L.’s family as well as the company have reported the incident to the local police to search for the motorbike driver who caused the accident,” said a representative of SaigonBus.

According to Decree 100/2019 of the Government on administrative sanctions in the field of road and railway traffic (amended and supplemented by Decree 123/2021 of the Government), a fine of VND 6,000,000 - 8,000,000 shall be imposed on drivers of motorbikes, mopeds (including electric motorbikes), motorbike-like vehicles and moped-like vehicles causing traffic accidents who do not stop, do not maintain the scene, flee, do not report to competent authorities, and do not participate in first aid for victims.

In addition to being fined according to regulations, drivers can also have their driver's license revoked for 3 - 5 months.

In addition, those who cause traffic accidents and then flee may be criminally prosecuted depending on the nature and severity of the violation.
