Ho Chi Minh City will announce 10th grade benchmark scores earlier than expected

A leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said the department will announce the 10th grade benchmark scores for 2024 at noon on July 3, one week earlier than expected.

Previously, on June 19, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training officially announced the 10th grade exam scores of more than 98,000 candidates. This year's exam score distribution has fluctuated a lot, even though the exam questions are considered to have deep differentiation.

According to the score distribution announced by the HCM City Department of Education and Training, among the three subjects of the 10th grade exam, math is the subject with the largest number of candidates with below-average scores, with 55,264/98,464 candidates, equivalent to 56% of candidates with below-average math scores; 49 candidates achieved a perfect score (10 points) in math; 560 exams scored 9 points or higher; more than 2,000 candidates scored 8 points or higher.

In literature, the highest score was 9.5; the score most candidates achieved was 7 points with more than 9,000 candidates; 8,168 candidates achieved 6.5 points; 7,509 candidates achieved 7.5 points... Although literature did not have a score of 10, the number of exams with scores below average was the lowest among the three subjects.

Meanwhile, in foreign languages ​​(mainly English), 1,707 candidates achieved the absolute score, with 9.25 being the score with the highest number of candidates achieving 3,943 candidates. The average score (5 points) was achieved by 3,188 candidates; more than 29,900 exams were below the average score.

In the 2024-2025 school year, the total enrollment target for grade 10 is: 77,355 students. This year, Ho Chi Minh City has 98,681 grade 9 students registering for the grade 10 exam. Thus, this year's grade 10 entrance exam will have 78.3% of students passing the public grade 10 exam.
