At the regular press conference on the socio-economic situation of Ho Chi Minh City on the afternoon of June 1, responding to the press about the information spread on social networks that the office of TCL Electronics Vietnam branch (District 5, Ho Chi Minh City) used a map that did not properly represent the sovereignty of the sea and islands to decorate the workplace, Mr. Nguyen Tan Kiet, Head of the Art Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, said that after receiving the information, the authorities coordinated to inspect the scene.

"At the time of inspection, this facility had removed a map that did not show the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos as belonging to Vietnam's sovereignty. Currently, the authorities are still actively clarifying the incident and will inform the press of the results later," said Mr. Kiet.

Mr. Pham Duc Hai, Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee - chairing the press conference - emphasized that this is an issue related to national sovereignty, and the management agency needs to speak up.

Mr. Hai requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to continue investigating and send a response to the Ho Chi Minh City Press Center.

A representative of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City said that in the coming time, the Department will coordinate with relevant agencies to handle and report the results of the information "TCL Electronics uses an incorrect map of Vietnam's sea and island sovereignty" .

The beauty pageant organizers always find ways to avoid and deal with violations.

"Beauty contest organizers who violate the law always find ways to avoid and deal with authorities before, during and after the contest.

Therefore, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City must coordinate with relevant units such as the city police, local police and the Department of Culture and Sports of districts to handle the matter," Mr. Nguyen Tan Kiet informed when asked about the progress of handling violations of beauty contests in Ho Chi Minh City .

Accordingly, the Miss and Mister Universe World International 2023 contest taking place in Ho Chi Minh City on May 26 has not yet completed the procedures to request approval to be held in Ho Chi Minh City. The Inspectorate of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City is coordinating with specialized departments and relevant agencies and units to inspect and handle according to regulations.

However, Mr. Kiet said that for beauty contests whose organizers do not carry out procedures to request competent authorities to approve the organization of the contest, there are many difficulties in handling violations, and it takes time to verify and handle them.

Mr. Nguyen Tan Kiet answered the press conference on the afternoon of June 1.

In addition, regarding the New Traditional fashion show by designer Tuong Danh held on May 6 in Thu Duc City, which featured many offensive images of models wearing ao yem and stylized ao dai, Mr. Nguyen Tan Kiet said that the violating entity has been verified to be Objoff Company Limited (headquartered in Thao Dien Ward, Thu Duc City).

Accordingly, the management agencies have coordinated to handle the above case. Thu Duc City has drawn up a record of administrative violations, and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City is in the process of consulting the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to issue a decision on penalties according to regulations.
