(TN&MT) - On January 23, in Can Tho City, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Can Tho City held a conference to review the management of natural resources and environment in 2024 and deploy tasks in 2025.
According to the report of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Can Tho City at the Conference, in 2024, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, with the efforts and solidarity of the Board of Directors, staff, civil servants, public employees, and workers, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment has completed 7/7 targets and tasks assigned by the People's Committee of Can Tho City; organized the implementation of 17/17 contents of direction and management and 10/10 decisions and plans according to the 2024 Work Program.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment also completed consulting the City People's Committee to submit to the Prime Minister for consideration and approval of the 5-year Land Use Plan (2021 - 2025) of Can Tho City; effectively implemented the merger and consolidation of the organizational structure of public service units under the Department according to Resolution No. 38/NQ-CP; disbursed public investment capital reached over 95%; collected land use fees and transferred cadastral information, estimated budget revenue reached 1,883 billion VND, exceeding 891 billion VND compared to the city's assigned target for 2024.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Can Tho City has also proactively advised the City People's Committee to promptly implement the provisions of the 2024 Land Law and the 2023 Water Resources Law; completed on schedule the consultation of 46/53 contents of institutionalizing the 2024 Land Law; the rate of digitization of administrative procedure settlement records and online payment is increasing; the rate of collection and treatment of urban solid waste in the city reached 99%.
Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Tran Phu Loc Thanh, Acting Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Can Tho City, said: Based on the results achieved in 2024 and 2025, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of the city will be determined to fulfill the assigned targets and tasks. In particular, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment will continue to synchronously and effectively implement Resolution 59-NQ/TW dated August 5, 2020 of the Politburo; Resolution No. 98/NQ-CP dated August 30, 2021 of the Government; Resolution of the 14th City Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025; especially Resolution No. 45/2022/QH15 dated January 11, 2022 of the National Assembly on piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Can Tho City; Resolutions, Directives, and Decisions of the Central Government related to the field of natural resources and environment; At the same time, complete land inventory and map current land use status in 2024.
In addition, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment will also advise the People's Committee of Can Tho City to adjust the planning and land use plan based on Decision No. 1519/QD-TTg dated December 2, 2023 of the Prime Minister on approving the planning of Can Tho City for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050; organize auctions of land use rights for public land plots; proactively and effectively implement the inspection and examination plan of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment approved by the City People's Committee.
Regarding environmental protection, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Can Tho City will also continue to speed up the progress of consulting on legal documents detailing the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 under the authority of the City People's Committee; effectively implement the Environmental Protection Program "Green and Clean Can Tho", prevent environmental pollution and urban flooding; strengthen the management of mineral resources, water, hydrometeorology and climate change.
At the same time, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Can Tho City continues to complete the Project to review and arrange the apparatus and staff in accordance with professional qualifications, skills, capacity, professionalism, dedication, and capacity to meet the requirements of tasks in the new situation; arrange increasingly modern facilities, workplaces, and equipment to meet work needs and improve the quality of service to the people; actively and proactively advise on tasks on digital transformation in the field of natural resources and environment of the city.
