The Vietnam Cycling and Motor Sports Federation said that the host country, Thailand, purchased equipment and racing vehicles to support the Vietnamese team. Previously, on the way to the competition venue by the organizing committee of the 2025 Asian Cycling Championship, all of the Vietnamese team's specialized racing vehicles were burned down.

The Cycling Federation of Thailand purchased 18 helmets, 18 pairs of shoes and 18 pairs of pedals for the Vietnamese athletes. In addition, the host country also arranged 27 specialized vehicles for the Vietnamese team to choose from.

The Vietnam Cycling and Motor Sports Federation has also proactively supplemented vehicles and urgently transported them to Thailand to prepare for athletes competing in the road event. For now, athletes competing in individual time trials (starting tomorrow, February 7) are forced to use vehicles borrowed from the organizing committee.

"The whole team has stabilized their spirit, maintained the highest determination, and is ready to enter the competition," said the Vietnam Cycling and Motor Sports Federation.

On the afternoon of February 5, about 30 specialized racing vehicles of the Vietnamese cycling team burned down while being transported to the competition venue in Thailand. The Vietnam Cycling and Motor Sports Federation confirmed this information. The transport vehicle that was involved in the accident - which resulted in the loss of all the competition equipment of the Vietnamese team - was a vehicle arranged by the organizing committee to transport them.

“After about 7 hours of travel, when we arrived in Phitsanulok, we suddenly received bad news: The vehicle carrying the Vietnamese team's equipment had an accident on the road, caught fire and all the competition equipment was completely damaged ," coach Mai Cong Hieu was quoted as saying on the website of the Vietnam Cycling and Motorbike Federation.

The Federation added: "According to initial statistics, the truck contained 30 specialized racing cars and many important accessories such as wheels, hats, shoes, etc.

Notably, some specialized bicycles used for individual time trials are worth up to VND250 million each, including those of racers Nguyen Tuan Vu and Nguyen Thi Thu Mai. The remaining bicycles, including that of athlete Nguyen Thi That, are also worth no less than VND150 million."
