Expert Akmal Marhali posted on his personal page an article about the issue of violence in football in the match between Persitangsel and Raga Negeri on February 5 in the 4th division (Liga 4). Persitangsel won 2-1 Raga Negeri but it is worth mentioning that the players of the two teams did not hesitate to fight on the field.

“This is the ugly face of our football,” Akmal Marhali began his post, accompanied by photos of players from both teams fighting during the match.

I was looking forward to watching the Liga 4 football match between Persitangsel and Raga Negeri at the Heroik Kopassus Stadium, Serang, to watch the young talents of national football. But unfortunately, what happened was an excessive violence. It was not simply the players playing rough, but they went beyond the limit and turned into assault.

What is even sadder is that the captain, Nurhidayat (Persitangsel Club) had such actions. And it is even more disappointing that referee Irwan Haedori did not give any warning, let alone a penalty card," Akmal Marhali shared.

In the photo shared by Akmal Marhali, Nurhidayat is seen choking an opposing player lying on the field.

“The act of choking a player on the ground is unacceptable. This is absolutely not the development we want in football ,” Akmal Marhali stressed.

“The Asprov PSSI Banten Disciplinary Committee must impose severe sanctions on this violent act, including a permanent ban from football if necessary. This act has crossed the line of sportsmanship and fair play. The referee must also be dealt with by the Referees Committee for turning a blind eye, setting a bad precedent and possibly encouraging similar acts to occur in the future,” Akmal Marhali continued.

“Let’s face it, our football needs to be built on a solid foundation. We cannot tolerate violence just for the sake of winning. Young players also need to be trained with the right spirit and mentality. Football is a noble and honorable profession, so players need to maintain their honor. Let’s respect each other,” Akmal Marhali affirmed.

Akmal Marhali’s post quickly went viral on social media in Indonesia. Also on February 5, chaos broke out in the Liga 4 match between Persipur Purwodadi and Persebi Boyolali. The home team Persipur Purwodadi was trailing 1-3 as regulation time approached its end.

In the 88th minute, chaos broke out in the stands after an object was thrown from one of the spectator areas.

Minutes later, a crowd of fans from the stands stormed the pitch, causing the situation to spiral out of control. The fans were even found to be vandalizing and continued to throw objects, trapping Persipur Purwodadi and Persebi Boyolali players.

According to Tribun Muria , the fans who stormed the pitch were Persipur fans. Clashes between Persipur fans broke out in many locations, including the area around Yakkum Purwodadi Hospital. Videos circulating on social media showed fans throwing stones and assaulting others right in the hospital yard. Grobogan police quickly intervened to quell the chaos. They arrested dozens of young people suspected of being involved in the incident.

Although the match had to be stopped in the 88th minute due to the incident, Persipur and Persebi reportedly agreed to end the match with a score of 1-3 in favor of the away team.
