TikTok demands permission to view sensitive data on iPhone

According to Phone Arena , a post on the Reddit forum has many people "accusing" TikTok of requiring iPhone users to provide an unlock code (a series of numbers to bypass the lock screen) to continue using the program. Technology experts say this action is unusual, especially for a company that has been accused of stealing user data.

TikTok requires iPhone unlock code to continue session

TikTok did not explain why the app needed to know the iPhone's unlock code, but it could be a bug. Some users reported being asked to enter the passcode every time they used the app. The TikTok version they installed on their iPhone was version 32.5.0. Those who pressed Cancel when asked to enter a password were still able to continue their session on the app.

But updating to newer software did not solve the problem. The situation became more serious when they could not find a solution, causing some people to worry and start changing passwords for important software on their devices, including banking applications and financial-related programs.

Deleting the TikTok app is an easy option, but many people are reluctant to do it because they fear losing clips saved on the platform. Some people who have tried deleting and reinstalling TikTok on their devices have reported that the problem is gone.

The company that manages the video-sharing social network has yet to comment on the issue. Therefore, in case of a similar situation on their device, users can click the Cancel button to cancel the request to enter the device unlock password, or reinstall the new version of the application from the App Store on the phone, and should not enter sensitive information.
