Thanks to stable output and guaranteed consumption by supermarkets, garlic growers in Ly Son earn nearly half a billion VND per hectare, with net profits reaching 150-180 million VND.
The owner of more than one hectare of garlic in Ly Son said that his family harvested more than 8 tons of fresh garlic, an increase of about 2.5 tons compared to the same period last year. With a purchase price of 55,000 VND per kilogram of fresh garlic, their family's total income reached over 450 million VND, after deducting expenses, the profit was over 170 million VND.

In Ly Son, the total garlic output this year reached 2,574 tons, an increase of 800 tons compared to last year. The Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Ly Son district said that the yield per hectare of fresh garlic reached 7.8 tons, an increase of 2.6 tons compared to the same period last year, thanks to favorable weather and improved farming techniques. With stable prices, garlic growers earn a profit of VND150 to 180 million per hectare.
Ly Son garlic is grown on red basalt soil and white coral sand from the seabed, creating a unique flavor. Before Covid-19, Ly Son garlic was considered “white gold,” with the price of dried garlic reaching up to 220,000 VND per kilogram. However, after the pandemic, at many times the price of garlic was only 30,000 VND per kilogram, causing difficulties for people.
Dragon fruit and melon prices drop sharply
Recently, many types of dragon fruit and melon have been brought to sell at many markets and fruit stores in Ho Chi Minh City at quite low prices.

According to many traders, due to abundant supply and weak consumption, the prices of dragon fruit and melons have decreased, especially those that do not meet export standards.
Vietnam's rice export price is the highest in the world
According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the price of Vietnamese rice is currently increasing in the opposite direction to that of its competitors, Thailand and Pakistan. Vietnam's 5% broken rice is currently being traded at $575 per ton, $14 per ton higher than the same type of Thai rice, and $34 per ton higher than Pakistani rice.
