Access to information, effective poverty reduction

Identifying sustainable poverty reduction as one of the important tasks, contributing to promoting socio-economic development, Thanh Ba district has recently set out goals, tasks and solutions to reduce the rate of poor households, avoid re-poverty, increase income, and improve people's lives. In particular, the district pays special attention to poverty reduction communication work in terms of information to promptly bring the Party, State and local poverty reduction policies and guidelines to the people in the area.

Thanh Ba District Social Policy Bank organized a training conference on implementing policy credit management applications for poverty reduction officers, management boards of savings and loan groups, and heads of residential areas in communes and towns in the district.

“Communication and information poverty reduction” is Project 6 under the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction (NTP-SPR) for the period 2021 - 2025. The project's objective is to support poor and near-poor households to overcome the minimum living standard, access basic social services according to the national multidimensional poverty standard, improve the quality of life; strengthen communication, raise awareness and responsibility of the whole society for poverty reduction; improve access to and benefit from legal aid, mobilize resources to implement the goal of sustainable poverty reduction; promote typical examples, initiatives, and good models of poverty reduction to promote, replicate and spread in society... Thereby, ensuring the effectiveness of multidimensional, inclusive, sustainable poverty reduction, limiting poverty relapse and poverty generation.

Identifying Project 6 - National Target Program on Poverty Reduction for the period 2021 - 2025 as one of the key tasks, in recent times, Thanh Ba district has promoted communication work with many diverse and flexible forms, suitable for each subject such as: Organizing training, improving capacity for officials working on poverty reduction at the grassroots level; organizing the development and implementation of communication products on poverty reduction (reportages, seminars, dialogues, billboards, posters, leaflets, other forms...) to guide people to access and enjoy programs and basic social services on vocational training, employment, working abroad under contracts, health care, education, housing, clean water and sanitation, information, legal aid, social assistance and gender equality;...

In the period of 2021 - 2024, the total budget allocated by the Central Government to implement the sub-project "Communication on multidimensional poverty reduction" (under Project 6, National Target Program on Poverty Reduction) is 319 million VND. Currently, the district has disbursed 306 million VND; developed 35 printed publications; 5 radio programs; produced 1 publication on poverty reduction communication; designed 61 propaganda banners;...

Khai Xuan Commune, Thanh Ba District participated in the 2024 Competition for Excellent Propagandists on "Sustainable Poverty Reduction".

Comrade Dang Duy Hung - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Man Lan commune, Thanh Ba district said: Man Lan commune currently has 15 residential areas with over 2,000 households. In recent times, in order to raise awareness and responsibility of all people in the area on multidimensional and sustainable poverty reduction; the Party Committee, government, and socio-political organizations of Man Lan commune have actively implemented many practical communication activities such as: Implementing radio programs of the District Center for Culture, Sports, Tourism and Communications and self-produced news in the time frame of 5:30 - 6:00 and 17:00 - 18:15 on 22 smart loudspeaker clusters in 15/15 residential areas; integrating sustainable poverty reduction contents and policies into meetings and activities of Associations and organizations; coordinating job counseling and vocational training for workers in poor, near-poor, and newly escaped-poverty households. Thanks to that, people's awareness has been raised, they actively participate in production labor, create jobs, stabilize their lives, increase their income to gradually escape poverty sustainably.

Along with effectively implementing information poverty reduction, Thanh Ba district also promotes administrative reform and digital transformation to serve the people; support people, especially the poor, to access and use telecommunications services, internet, and information technology applications; associated with investment in completing the grassroots broadcasting system applying digital technology... Thereby, helping poor and near-poor households to be more proactive in accessing policies, learning from experiences and solutions for economic development, rising out of poverty; at the same time, gradually approaching and integrating into digital transformation through the use of digital platforms and services being deployed.

Mr. Tran Hong Sy in Zone 4, Khai Xuan Commune, Thanh Ba District said: With the support and guidance of the commune's community digital technology team on how to use telecommunications and internet services, I have become more proactive and proficient in learning about livestock and crop farming techniques through applications on smartphones. At the same time, looking up information on poverty reduction policies has also become more convenient and easier, helping me grasp and implement policies and strategies more seriously and effectively.

Thanks to the implementation of many practical solutions, the project "Communication and information poverty reduction" in Thanh Ba district has created consensus and support from the whole society, aroused the will to proactively rise up of the poor and effectively used the policies and support resources of the State and locality to escape poverty; helped cadres and people in the district fully grasp the policies and guidelines of the Party and State on poverty reduction. From there, orienting people to participate and manage the Programs effectively, contributing significantly to the goal of socio-economic development and sustainable poverty reduction in the district.
