Hanoi's Cheick Timite made a dirty play, causing Ho Chi Minh City FC to lose a player in the 3rd minute, before losing 1-3 to Hanoi FC in round 10 of V-League 2023-2024.
In the second minute, Timite was hit by a dirty play by Hanoi FC midfielder Brandon Wilson, who swung his arm. The Ho Chi Minh City FC striker lost his cool and headbutted Wilson in the face. Referee Nguyen Manh Hai initially only gave Timite a yellow card, but VAR intervened and suggested a red card. Referee Manh Hai went to the sideline to review the video before returning to erase the yellow card and show a red card to send Timite off.

In the 37th minute, Van Quyet continued to play the role of creator with a cross from a free kick from the left wing for Xuan Manh to head at the far post, but the goal was disallowed after VAR checked for offside. In the third minute of injury time, substitute defender Van Dung passed the ball over the line for Joel Tagueu to escape. After a toe-poke, Van Quyet received the ball in the penalty area and shot diagonally past goalkeeper Le Giang, but the linesman raised the offside flag. However, after two minutes of checking, VAR confirmed that this situation was not offside, thereby helping Van Quyet score his second goal in the 2023-2024 V-League.
