According to TechSpot , in a recent interview, billionaire Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, shared his candid views on Intel's difficult situation. He said that Intel has 'lost its way' and fallen behind its competitors in both chip design and manufacturing.
Mr. Gates speaks out about the decline of the Intel 'empire'
“I was shocked that Intel had lost its way,” Gates said, noting that Intel was once a pioneer in the semiconductor industry but was now being left behind by Nvidia, TSMC and Qualcomm.
Gates also pointed out that Intel missed the AI (artificial intelligence) chip revolution, although he praised former CEO Pat Gelsinger's efforts to revive the company. "I hope Intel will recover, but it seems quite difficult at this stage," the former Microsoft CEO said.
Intel has been struggling in recent years, from delays in its manufacturing technology transition, losing market share to AMD, to being abandoned by Apple in favor of its own chips. Financial problems have also plagued Intel, leading to the firing of CEO Pat Gelsinger last year.
Intel is currently facing a number of challenges, including regaining market share, catching up with rivals in AI, and addressing financial issues. Whether Intel can overcome this difficult period remains a big question.
