Just 20 days after its launch, a report from TrendForce shows that the app has attracted 20 million active users. DeepSeek is now the second most popular app globally, behind only ChatGPT, while ByteDance's Doubao app is currently in third place.
DeepSeek is now the most downloaded app on the App Store in 157 countries
Launched on January 11, DeepSeek had 22.15 million daily active users as of January 31, accounting for 41.6% of the user base of ChatGPT, which had a total of 53.23 million daily users during the same period. Previously, Doubao was the market leader in China with 17 million monthly active users before being surpassed by DeepSeek in popularity.
Many Chinese companies 'willing' to support DeepSeek
DeepSeek’s success is also evident in Apple’s App Store rankings, where the app has risen to the number one spot in 157 countries, including the United States. According to SimilarWeb, DeepSeek’s website surpassed Google Gemini in traffic just a week after its launch. As of January 31, DeepSeek had 2.4 million users in the United States, while Gemini had just 1.5 million.
DeepSeek’s rapid growth has attracted attention from major companies in China. Tencent, Baidu, and Alibaba have announced plans to integrate DeepSeek’s model into their cloud platforms. In addition, four leading GPU manufacturers from China, including Huawei Ascend, Moore Threads, iluvatar, and MetaX, have also expressed their desire to support the development of this startup.
