- Mr. NGUYEN BA THACH: According to Resolution No. 477/NQ-HDND dated March 1, 2025 of the Provincial People's Council, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions was established on the basis of merging the Provincial Ethnic Minorities Committee and the Religious Committee under the Department of Home Affairs. The Department performs the functions and tasks of state management in the field of ethnic affairs, beliefs and religions in the province. Currently, the organizational structure of the Department includes 3 divisions: Religious Affairs, Ethnic Affairs, and General Administration.

The Department has quickly stabilized its organizational structure, improved its personnel, promoted the spirit of solidarity and unity among the leadership, cadres, civil servants and employees to operate stably. In a short time, with a large workload, the Department has directed specialized departments to strengthen their grasp and update the situation, promptly implement work contents according to plan, ensuring compliance with the requirements and assigned tasks.

* Reporter: Sir, with the new organizational model, how is state management in the field of ethnic affairs, beliefs and religions carried out?

- Mr. NGUYEN BA THACH: Gia Lai is a province with many ethnic minorities living together. In the new organizational model, the Department continues to advise the Provincial People's Committee to direct the implementation of key contents in ethnic affairs and ethnic policies.

At the same time, continue to coordinate with departments, branches, sectors and localities to grasp the situation, implement policies and support policies, invest in developing production-life, education-training, health, culture-society, maintain political security and social order and safety in ethnic minority areas.

Regarding religious work, the Department proactively coordinates with departments, branches, sectors and localities to strengthen state management of beliefs and religions; reports on the situation, advises and proposes to the Provincial People's Committee to direct functional agencies and localities to strengthen management and guidance of belief and religious activities, and promptly resolve related issues.

In general, the situation of religious activities in the area is basically stable. The government pays attention to the needs of religious activities, creating conditions for religious organizations and individuals to practice in accordance with the law.

* Reporter: In the coming time, what will the field of ethnic and religious work focus on?

- Mr. NGUYEN BA THACH: Based on the assigned functions and tasks, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions continues to coordinate with departments, branches and localities to implement key tasks in the field of ethnic affairs, and strengthen state management of beliefs and religions in the province.

Regarding the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas, the Department continues to urge departments, branches and localities to speed up the implementation of projects. At the same time, the Department has sent a document to the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions proposing and recommending that the Central Government pay attention to supplementing 92,987 billion VND of development investment capital that is lacking compared to the capital plan for the period 2021-2025; supplementing 174,538 billion VND of career capital in 2025 so that Gia Lai province can ensure resources to implement the contents and projects of the program.

In addition, the Department continues to strengthen the state management of beliefs and religions, advise and propose the Provincial People's Committee to promptly consider and resolve the needs of religious activities, legitimate and legal recommendations of religious organizations and individuals. In addition, the Department coordinates with relevant departments, branches and sectors to guide and assist religious organizations in carrying out religious activities, organizing ceremonies, congresses and conferences in accordance with legal regulations.
