Huong Hoa district has the advantage of a cool, temperate climate all year round and many beautiful, wild, and majestic landscapes, along with the unique cultural traditions of the Van Kieu and Pa Ko ethnic groups, which have been opening up a new direction to promote tourism to become the local spearhead economic sector.

In Huong Hoa district, there are many new and attractive destinations attracting tourists, such as: Ta Puong waterfall eco-tourism area; orchid and strawberry growing model of Bac Huong Hoa Center for Applied Science and Technology Research; Chenh Venh community tourism village; Ta Con airport; Khe Sanh Valley Farm; Lao Bao international border gate and some neighboring places...
In particular, Ta Puong Waterfall Ecotourism Area with its beautiful waterfall system and cool, fresh climate is very suitable for organizing adventure tourism and ecotourism programs associated with indigenous culture.
The model of community-based eco-tourism village associated with sustainable forest management according to FSC standards in Chenh Venh village was supported by the Netherlands - Vietnam Medical Committee in Quang Tri and the People's Committee of Huong Hoa district to launch an eco-tour to explore the community forest combined with learning about the life of the Van Kieu ethnic people and exploring the natural landscape of Chenh Venh waterfall, bamboo forest, and primeval natural forest protected by the people of Chenh Venh village.
This is one of the first two community forests in Vietnam to meet FSC international standards by the end of 2021, including a beautiful bamboo forest that many tourists come to visit and explore.
In 2023, the number of tourists to the area will reach 160,000; in the first 9 months of 2024, it is estimated to reach over 170,000, about 1,000 guests staying, with estimated revenue of over 60 billion VND. The whole district has 30 accommodation establishments with a total of 536 rooms; the number of workers employed from tourism activities is about 120 people.
Action Program No. 48, dated December 19, 2019 of Huong Hoa District Party Committee on implementing Resolution No. 08, dated January 16, 2017 of the Politburo and Action Program No. 83, dated July 25, 2017 of Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee on developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector, has identified the focus on building 3 groups of potential tourism products, including: Ecotourism; cultural - historical tourism; community - craft village tourism.
Regarding community tourism products - craft villages, Huong Hoa district has focused on directing the development of community tourism in Chenh Venh village, Huong Phung commune; building a plan to develop community tourism combined with eco-tourism in Trang - Ta Puong village, Huong Viet commune.
In addition, the district promotes promotion and investment attraction to exploit the local tourism potential on mass media; through organizing community cultural tourism activities such as: Spring Market in the highlands; recreating typical festivals of the Van Kieu and Pa Ko ethnic groups; promoting visually by building a system of billboards on tourist maps and signs at tourist destinations.
In addition, the district has organized many seminars on tourism development with the participation of tourism experts to find solutions for tourism development based on the potential and advantages of the locality; build typical tourism models and products to serve the development of the tourism industry of Huong Hoa district in the coming time.
To promote sustainable development of community tourism in Huong Hoa district, becoming a key economic sector, Huong Hoa district has directed relevant agencies, departments and branches to continue studying new points in the 2024 Land Law to guide and apply to homestays and farmstays to help people feel secure in investing and developing community tourism. Focus on developing tourism in the area associated with exploiting historical revolutionary tourism resources, eco-resort tourism, community tourism, border tourism...
Step by step planning community tourism in localities that still preserve the cultural and traditional features of the Van Kieu and Pa Ko ethnic groups; planning community tourism combined with homestay in the communes of Huong Lap, Huong Viet, Huong Phung, Huong Son, Khe Sanh town; planning community tourism associated with building traditional craft villages of brocade weaving, basketry, making and performing ethnic musical instruments in the communes of Huong Viet, Huong Phung, Lia.
Promote investment attraction to restore traditional craft villages, preserve and restore traditional cultural and artistic forms and festivals; upgrade facilities for accommodation and meals, support households in equipping facilities and infrastructure for guests and equipping them with knowledge of homestay tourism business, creating unique features to develop Huong Hoa tourism.
