According to a press release on May 30 from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will pay an official visit to Vietnam from June 3-4 at the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
This event is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1973-2023).
Also on May 30, the Australian Embassy in Vietnam issued a statement saying that Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will meet with senior Vietnamese leaders to promote Australia's business and educational relations.
The leaders will discuss measures to promote trade, investment and education links; and expand cooperation on climate, energy and the environment.
The statement stressed that Vietnam is an increasingly important economic and strategic partner for Australia in Southeast Asia, a focus area in the foreign policy of Prime Minister Albanese's Government.
Ahead of the visit, Prime Minister Albanese said: "My first official visit to Vietnam is an opportunity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and to agree on new areas of economic, trade and other cooperation to bring about an even stronger relationship in the future."
