The short story-essay collection Ti's Family Story (and Stories of Many Other Families) has just been released, marking the return of one of the most beloved writers of contemporary Vietnamese literature.
This is a gentle work that records simple stories of everyday life with a subtle writing style and makes familiar things strange.

Everyone has a "home story" - stories that seem small, trivial, and not worth paying attention to.
But under the sharp and graceful pen of Phan Thi Vang Anh, those seemingly simple things become a mirror reflecting human behavior and psychology in modern society, exposing how people live with themselves and with each other.
Ti's Family Story (and many other families' stories) is a humble book title, true to the spirit of its content, which is about small stories in every corner of the house, every street corner, every person: eating, traveling, playing, friends, colleagues, husband and wife, children, the city, the countryside... All are things that everyone does, encounters every day, seemingly tiny and trivial.
Phan Thi Vang Anh has a very unique way of telling stories: no philosophy, no lecturing, no judging who is right or wrong, but Ti's Family Story is a book that can make readers feel embarrassed, laugh secretly, and feel guilty, because in those stories, who knows, there might be a shadow of themselves.
Not dramatic, not intentionally shocking, the work is simply stories of everyday life – but brings a lot of thoughts. Read to see that this life is still interesting even in the smallest things. But above all, it reminds us that we all struggle with stories like this every day.
In addition, the special point of this book is the combination of words and images. The book is illustrated by author Nguyen Truong Quy. The simple pictures help the story become more vivid and closer.
