The National Defense and Security Committee proposed to carefully study the 22 groups of information integrated into the identity database to ensure feasibility and avoid waste.
On the afternoon of June 2, Minister of Public Security To Lam presented the draft Law on Identification. Article 16 of the draft states more than 22 groups of information in the Identification Database, including birth name, identification number, gender, date of birth, place of birth registration, hometown, ethnicity, religion, nationality, blood type, identification characteristics, portrait, fingerprint, iris, DNA, voice, occupation...
In his report on this content, Chairman of the National Defense and Security Committee Le Tan Toi said that increasing sharing and connection between databases will improve the effectiveness of state management, resolve administrative procedures, and approach the general trend of the world. However, the Committee recommends carefully studying each type of integrated information to ensure effectiveness, following the principle of "only updating and managing information that is truly necessary and commonly used".
The Committee proposed to remove some unstable information such as temporary residence, current residence, temporary absence status, relationship with the head of household, mobile phone number, email address. To ensure accuracy, this information must be updated regularly when citizens change.
In addition, regulations on blood type, iris, DNA, and voice should only be collected and updated when requested by citizens; information on occupations should be specified as "except for police, military, and cryptography".

The review agency basically agreed with the provisions of Article 23 of the draft Law, stating that the information fields integrated into the ID card include health insurance card, social insurance book, driver's license, birth certificate, marriage certificate or other documents. Integrating this information will help reduce paperwork for citizens, creating convenience for agencies and organizations in administrative and civil transactions.
However, the Committee also believes that integrating personal information into the ID card in case of loss and waiting for re-issuance will affect the use of integrated information, affecting the exercise of civil rights.
According to the session agenda, the National Assembly will discuss the draft law on June 10 and discuss it in the hall on June 22.
