The 2025 university entrance exam recorded many universities opening new majors and new combinations suitable for high school graduation exam subjects.
2025 is the first year that candidates graduate from high school according to the 2018 General Education Program. Candidates will take the high school graduation exam with 2 compulsory subjects: math, literature and 2 elective subjects in the high school graduation exam.
New group has technology and information technology subjects.
Changes in the high school graduation exam have led to many changes in university admissions in 2025. Hanoi University of Industry plans to add a number of new combinations including A0C (math, physics, technology); A0T (math, physics, information technology); B0C (math, chemistry, technology); D0C (math, English, technology); D0G (math, English, economic education and law). The school also abandoned the admission method based solely on high school transcripts, instead combining transcripts with international certificates, excellent student awards, and test scores to assess capacity and thinking.
Meanwhile, Hanoi Medical University also plans to adjust the admission combinations. The school also plans to open two new majors, including social work and medical imaging technology. Sharing the same trend of opening new majors, the University of Commerce has opened seven new programs in the international career-oriented group, including brand management (marketing), international certified integrated auditing (auditing), economics and investment management (economics), business law (economic law), e-commerce (e-commerce), and information systems management. In 2025, the school plans to use a variety of admission methods, with priority given to students with international English certificates.
In 2025, the National Economics University will enroll two new programs: labor relations and international trade law. The school said it will stop using some combinations when considering admission based on high school graduation exam scores, including B00 (math, chemistry, biology); C03 (math, literature, history); C04 (math, literature, geography); D09 (math, history, English); D10 (math, geography, English). Thus, with the method of considering high school graduation exam results, the National Economics University will enroll according to 4 combinations, including: A00 (math, physics, chemistry); A01 (math, physics, English); D01 (math, literature, English); D07 (math, chemistry, English); there is no difference in admission scores between the combinations.
Combined English certificate examination
According to the newly announced enrollment plan, this year Foreign Trade University will enroll students in 4 ways. Admission based on academic records applies to 3 groups of candidates, including: those participating in the national science and technology competition; those who won third prize or higher in the city-level excellent student competition; and those who are students of specialized schools. Students can use the average score of 6 semesters of 3 subjects in the group; or combine it with an international foreign language certificate. When considering a combination, the certificate score will be converted, replacing the English subject. Specific conditions for each group of candidates are different, but some common requirements are a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 (if considered in combination), a total of 3 graduation exam subjects from 24 or higher... The second method is to consider the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam. Candidates can use their exam scores alone, or combine them with an international foreign language certificate. Conditions for IELTS scores and other certificates are equivalent to those for considering academic records. The third method is to consider domestic and international competency assessment certificates. The school uses the results of two competency assessment exams organized by VNU Hanoi and VNU Ho Chi Minh City. For international certificates, the school still uses SAT, ACT and A-Level. The last method is direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Hanoi National University of Education said that in 2025, the school plans to enroll 4,995 students in 50 majors and regular university training programs in 9 fields, including 5 new majors: biotechnology, physics (semiconductor physics and engineering), history, sociology, Vietnamese language and Vietnamese culture. The school enrolls students in 3 ways, of which the first method is based on the 2025 high school graduation exam scores, the second method is direct admission, giving priority to candidates with outstanding abilities and achievements, and the last is based on the school's 2025 capacity assessment exam scores.
Mid-February 2025 promulgate admission regulations
Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training, said that it is expected that in mid-February 2025, the university admission regulations will be issued. The Ministry of Education and Training plans to eliminate early admission. The quota for early admission will be small, reserved for students with outstanding achievements, with important domestic and international awards. This is an outstanding group, a very special talent force that universities need to attract. The majority of the remaining candidates will participate in the general admission round according to the general plan of the Ministry of Education and Training.
