Land of many precious products

The South Central Coast consists of 8 provinces and cities (Quang Nam, Binh Dinh, Quang Ngai, Khanh Hoa, Binh Thuan, Da Nang, Phu Yen, Ninh Thuan). The natural diversity and mild climate have helped the provinces here have many valuable agricultural products such as: Cashews, aloe vera, asparagus, onions, garlic, grapes, apples, grapefruit, durian, bananas, purple sugarcane, etc.

In Quang Nam, the agricultural sector here has successfully built brands and trademarks for safe agricultural products such as: Ngoc Linh ginseng, Tra My cinnamon, Tien Phuoc pepper, Dai Binh grapefruit, Ky Ky watermelon, Dang sam products, Tay Giang Morinda officinalis; Thanh Dong organic vegetables, organic vegetables, Tra Que safe vegetables...

Among the above fruits, in addition to Ngoc Linh ginseng known as a national treasure with high economic value, targeting large international markets... recently, Tra My cinnamon has also been recognized as an agricultural product with export opportunities.

Binh Dinh province is famous for green-skinned grapefruit, coconut, durian, jackfruit, etc. The locality is promoting the restructuring of the agricultural sector, focusing on developing commodity production areas, diversifying products; strengthening production and product consumption linkages.

Mentioning Quang Ngai means mentioning Ly Son garlic, Binh Hai shallots, Minh Long tea, Tra Bong cinnamon, Duc Hai fish sauce, rice (Nghia Hanh, Tu Nghia, Mo Duc, Duc Pho, Binh Son); vegetables (Tu Nghia, Binh Son)... The agricultural sector here is oriented to develop high quality, sustainably, in the direction of centralization, modernization, towards green agriculture, protecting the environment.

Meanwhile, Khanh Hoa has unique agricultural products that are highly appreciated by consumers, such as: bird's nest, lobster, snail, durian, garlic... In recent years, Khanh Hoa agriculture has focused on increasing value, not competing for output. The industry's key tasks in 2024 also focus on this issue, including improving the quality of cultivation, ensuring the market of safe agricultural products, meeting quality and organic standards, and gradually developing the processing industry.

Unlike the above localities, the climate and land in Binh Thuan are harsh, but are suitable for many crops and livestock with high economic value, such as: rubber, pepper, cashew, coffee, cotton, dragon fruit, rice, eucalyptus and many other crops. Of which, dragon fruit is still the province's advantageous crop.

Binh Thuan is interested in producing dragon fruit in the direction of VietGAP and organic. Up to now, the locality has formed a number of production linkage models associated with preservation, processing and consumption of agricultural products according to the value chain, bringing high economic efficiency.

In the coming time, Binh Thuan will continue to develop modern and sustainable agriculture towards increasing added value associated with new rural construction; encouraging the development of high-tech agriculture, green, organic and circular agriculture.

As for Da Nang, the city has basically formed a clean agricultural production area, high-tech agriculture, with many key products such as various green vegetables, melons... in a closed model, meeting safety standards. Most clean agricultural products have begun to gain a foothold in the market, and have been welcomed by consumers.

As a coastal province in the South Central Coast region, Phu Yen has so far issued 9 lists of key agricultural products of the province, including: Tuna, lobster, cassava, sugarcane, rice, cashew nuts, etc. These products can increase the economic value of the province and have many advantages when participating in exports to the world market.

Ninh Thuan province in particular has diverse ecological and climatic zones, with warm sunshine all year round, creating many highly specific products such as: grapes, apples, green asparagus, garlic, aloe vera, seafood, sheep, goats, etc. Currently, Ninh Thuan is focusing on investing and developing according to the value chain of commodity production, linking production with consumption for 182 OCOPs of 3 stars or higher.

Boosting connectivity for export

In order to create conditions and opportunities for businesses in the South Central region to participate in promoting and introducing product brands that ensure quality and have great export potential to Korean importers; thereby supporting businesses in finding partners, developing and expanding product consumption markets, exploiting the potentials and advantages of each locality sustainably and effectively, the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province has just coordinated with the Vietnam - Korea Business and Investment Association to organize a conference on Connecting trade and export of goods between the South Central region - Vietnam and Korean enterprises in 2024.

At the conference, businesses from the South Central provinces brought their typical products, especially diverse and abundant agricultural, forestry and fishery products of each locality to display and promote to Korean businesses. Korean businesses proactively exchanged information with each business whose products were on display.

Representatives of businesses from the South Central region and Korea also shared experiences in production and trading of key products; brand promotion activities and proposed solutions to facilitate trade connections between the two sides, opening up opportunities for sustainable cooperation in the future...

According to Vice Chairman of Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Committee Trinh Minh Hoang, the conference is an important bridge, creating favorable conditions for businesses from both sides to meet, exchange information, seek partners, sign contracts, contributing to effectively implementing the policy of the Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade on regional connectivity, promoting export activities, and consuming goods to foreign markets.

Experts believe that this is a golden opportunity to boost exports, bringing products from the South Central region to Korean consumers. The presence of Korean enterprises and enterprises from the South Central region at this conference is an opportunity for the parties to enhance exchanges, cooperation, connect supply and demand of goods, promote investment; at the same time, it is an opportunity for Korean enterprises to survey, explore potential, and seek more investment opportunities in the South Central region in general and Ninh Thuan province in particular.

Korea is one of the few countries that have signed many bilateral and multilateral FTAs with Vietnam, such as: ASEAN - Korea Free Trade Agreement (AKFTA); Vietnam - Korea Free Trade Agreement (VKFTA); Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP), so Vietnamese goods have many opportunities to access the Korean market with preferential tax rates.
